The NC Department of Administration is the business manager for North Carolina state government. The department oversees Government Operations such as building construction purchasing and contracting for goods and services maintaining facilities managing state vehicles acquiring and disposing of real property and operating auxiliary services such as courier mail delivery and the sale of state and federal surplus property. Additionally the department manages many of the states advocacy programs that provide assistance and services to diverse segments of the states population that have been traditionally underserved.
Description of Work
The Digital Media Specialists primary role is managing and maintaining the NC Department of Administrations (NCDOA) social media accounts and website. As part of the Communications team the Digital Media Specialist will be entrusted with making the best decisions regarding content creation organization and placement of social media and web content to position and maintain NCDOAs digital media presence to align with the departments mission and goals.Additional job duties of this position include but are not limited to:
Updating content and organization of the departments website
Providing design and content management support for the NCDOA website
Implementing the day-to-day social media strategy and crafting daily engaging content that supports NCDOA services programs and initiatives
Conduct regular content analysis and convey best practices for social and digital media in strategic planning and implementation
Complete other public information duties as needed including writing news releases articles or proclamations creating content for collateral materials such as fact sheets or brochures or other tasks assigned
This position requires the ability to:

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. This positions typical hours are Monday-Friday 8am-5pm. This position may telework at times. More information on this arrangement may be obtained at the time of interview.

MAX SALARY FOR THIS POSITION: $52170.00 Annually

The salary grade for this position is NC10. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as or lower than their current position. If selected for this position a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience funding availability and internal equity. Based upon these factors a pay increase MAY result.
About the Department of Administration and Communications Office:
The Department of Administration (NCDOA) serves as the business manager for North Carolina state government and provides leadership to state government agencies for the effective efficient economical and equitable delivery of services to the public. The department also provides assistance and services to several advocacy programs that serve diverse segments of the states population that have traditionally been underserved.
The Communications Office supports NCDOA services programs and initiatives through developing and implementing internal and external strategic communications plans that incorporate digital media publications speaking engagements media relations publications and other tactics. The Office helps divisions in planning and designing publications conducting outreach campaigns events and publicity and develop website content to communicate with their respective stakeholders. The Office also facilitates responses to public records requests and assists the public with inquiries.

To qualify for this position applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:
- Experience with social media engagement management online listening and analytics.
- Knowledge of acceptable standards and best practices for social and digital media.
- Knowledge of technology associated with web design social media and/or digital communication.
- Ability to communicate with a range of audiences in a variety of situations
- Ability to write according to correct English usage and accepted standards.
- General knowledge of journalistic communication and/or publication principles and practices.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with media representatives as well as employees within the department and others contacted in the course of work.
- Ability to clearly convey information through a variety of venues to clients and customers.
- Ability to exercise sound judgement and initiative in handling sensitive information.
- Must have the drive to work independently and remain self-motivated to complete tasks.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors degree in communications public relations public affairs media journalism English or a related field from an appropriately accredited institution or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
