Primary Purpose of the Role The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing the full accounting financial reporting cost management statutory compliance and financial control functions of the TreasuryONE Group of Companies. The role ensures accurate financial reporting strong working capital management predictable cash flow and full compliance with statutory requirements. The Senior Accountant supports the CFO in delivering reliable financial information maintaining strong internal controls achieving an unmodified audit opinion and promoting financial discipline across the Group.
Key Responsibilities
1. Corporate Accounting & Financial Management
- Oversee all accounting functions across the TreasuryONE Group.
- Capture and review journal entries for reporting and Annual Financial Statement (AFS) preparation.
- Maintain and update the Fixed Asset Register on a monthly basis.
- Process and review:Monthly bad debt provisions; Commissions and accruals of Prepayments and deferred income; Intercompany loan reconciliations
- Prepare consolidated monthly management accounts.
- Facilitate the annual financial audit
- Review and submit updated client age analysis on a weekly basis.
2. Cost & Financial Accounting
- Monitor revenue and expenses against approved budgets and forecasts.
- Update monthly income and expense forecasts and report on variances.
- Prepare in collaboration with the CFO standalone P&Ls budgets and cash accountability reports for seven business units.
- Conduct client profitability analysis prior to annual escalations.
- Develop an understanding of departmental processes and cost drivers.
- Promote Cash as a Discipline ensuring: Predictable cash flow; Cash accountability across business units
- Update and monitor cash flow forecasts and report regularly to the CFO.
3. Reporting & Budgeting
- Prepare the annual budget in collaboration with the CFO.
- Analyse and report monthly variances between actual and forecasted income and expenses.
- Assist the CFO in preparing financial reporting packs for management.
4. Statutory Compliance & Governance
Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements including:
- VAT calculations and submissions via SARS e-Filing
- Income tax returns
- CIPC annual returns
- BEE reporting
- Maintenance of proper financial controls
5. Intercompany & Group Responsibilities
- Reconcile and balance intercompany loan accounts.
- Monitor and reconcile intercompany transactions.
- Support group consolidation processes
6. General Responsibilities
- Support the finance team and broader business as required.
Minimum Requirements Education
- CIMA qualification or SAIPA qualified advantageous
- Financial Accounting and/or Cost Accounting degree Experience
- Minimum 35 years experience in accounting or financial reporting Computer Skills
- MS Office (Advanced Excel advantageous)
- Xero Accounting or similar accounting system
