QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED:
Required:
- Bachelors Degree or Diploma in Financial Accounting or equivalent.
- Completed Articles
Preferred:
Experience needed to deliver the role seamlessly:
- Completed Articles/New CA(SA)
- Excel and SAP or similar ERP
- Working knowledge of SARS (VAT & Income Tax) related legislation.
- Strong reconciliation skills.
- Experience in having faced successfully external audits.
- Advanced Excel Skills
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE:
Core Technical Delivery:
Financial Accounting Function
- Month End Close: Prepare payroll and related journals review accrual and other month end journals for accuracy and completeness post journals in SAP.
- Maintain amortisation schedules for loans from funders. Ensure that loans are accounted for correctly and that interest is recognised monthly.
- Review Capex requisitions update the wear and tear register regularly.
- Work with Risk and Compliance to ensure that adequate insurance is in place for Inventory and Fixed Assets.
- Liaise with technical accounting and Tax consultants to ensure that treatment of intangibles relating to project activity and other special items is correct and adequately substantiated with memos and other supporting documentation
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations ensure that reconciling items are resolved. Maintain the deferred income schedule.
- Ensure accurate completion and timely filing of statutory tax returns and other compliance reporting (EMP201 VAT Income Tax Stats SA)
- Maintenance of GL and cost centres in SAP: create new GL accounts and cost centres as required
Audit and Annual Financial Statements
- Audit deliverables Attend to audit requests timeously.
- Provide input to the client assistance list ensure that all reconciliations and supporting schedules are complete before the annual audit starts.
- Ensure that supporting documentation for account balances are in order.
- Assist in the management of own and teams audit deadlines.
- Prepare the Financial Statement workings for Biovac group and company for review.
Treasury Management Funding and Tax
- Release weekly and monthly payments including VAT and EMP201 payments.
- Attend to SARS queries as required
- Prepare tax return workings including wear and tear schedules for Biovac and its subsidiaries
- Ensure that bank balances in SAP are correct
- Ensure that excess cash is invested at the end of each day
- Assist with any due diligence or funder requests and requirements
Additional Duties
- Preparation of ad hoc schedules or reports as requested by funders
- Attend to any audit requirements relating to project banking and cash
- Audit support provide supporting documentation and assist with fixed asset verification
- Internal control audits
- SAP improvement projects participate in SAP projects and changes where required
- Funding due diligence exercises ensure that all Financial Accounting deliverables are met.
- Monitor and report on funding covenants attend to all Funder reporting requests and requirements
- Provide any financial support to the project teams as required
