Job Overview
Tekberry is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Lead III to support our client a global leader in advanced materials and manufacturing technologies at their Newton NC facility.
This senior-level hands-on engineering leadership role is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of mechanical and production-line engineering projects with a strong focus on equipment installation vendor coordination and execution of manufacturing line builds. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles proven project leadership experience and the ability to independently drive complex installations with minimal oversight.

Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Execution
- Lead and oversee mechanical and manufacturing-related engineering projects from planning through installation and startup.
- Manage production line installations including equipment selection layout coordination and installation sequencing.
- Track and manage drawing redlines revisions and documentation updates throughout the project lifecycle.
- Troubleshoot installation issues and drive practical timely resolutions to minimize downtime and rework.
Vendor & Contractor Management
- Solicit and evaluate vendor quotations for equipment services and installation activities.
- Coordinate and oversee external vendors and installation contractors to ensure work is performed safely on schedule and to specification.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact between internal teams and external partners.
Engineering Problem Solving
- Apply standard engineering theories concepts principles and techniques to solve complex mechanical and installation-related problems.
- Develop imaginative thorough and practicable technical solutions aligned with organizational objectives.
- Independently determine appropriate approaches to problem-solving with minimal direction.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Maintain strong working relationships across engineering manufacturing operations and external organizations.
- Represent the organization during inter-organizational interactions and with external vendors.
- Communicate project status risks and resolutions clearly to stakeholders.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience leading or supporting mechanical engineering projects.
- Demonstrated experience with project management preferably related to equipment or production line installations.
- Strong experience interacting with vendors and installation contractors.
- Solid understanding and application of standard engineering or scientific theories concepts principles and techniques.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction and accountability for outcomes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting manufacturing or industrial facility installations.
- Exposure to multi-disciplinary engineering environments.
- Proven ability to develop strong working relationships outside of immediate work groups.
- Experience tracking and managing engineering documentation and drawing revisions.
Work Environment
- Combination of desk-based project coordination and on-floor manufacturing/installation support.
- Frequent interaction with internal teams vendors and contractors.
- Occasional extended hours may be required to support critical installation milestones.
