Job Summary

Job Title: Project Manager Fleet Technology Deployment

Duration: 7-9 months
Location: Naperville IL (2 days/week onsite) travel
Travel: 40 50% (U.S. Canada) - (expenses covered by client)

Project Overview

Client is rolling out fleet technology across 85 locations in North America. Every bus in their fleet requires:

Tablet
GPS device
Camera

The hardware feeds into a SaaS platform (Samsara). This is a large-scale multi-site hardware software implementation.

They are struggling with execution and need a strong contractor PM to build a real project plan and drive delivery.

What They Need

Experienced Project Manager (must be able to operate independently)
Someone who can create a project plan from scratch and execute it
No handholding need to hit the ground running
Comfortable working alongside:
- An internal PM (who will keep the title) that works for the PE firm but isnt quite cut out for this so they need to hire someone else. This other person will have a PM title but wont be doing the PM work.
High emotional intelligence required delicate relationship balance
- This contractor will be doing the work while navigating politics diplomatically

Key Responsibilities

Build and own the end-to-end project plan
Coordinate deployments across multiple sites
Manage site schedules dependencies and logistics
Be onsite for large-site kickoffs
Drive execution and accountability across stakeholders
Ensure hardware installs align with SaaS platform requirements

Required Experience

Proven PM experience on technology deployments
Experience with:
- Hardware installations
- SaaS platforms
- Multi-location rollouts
Strong execution follow-through
Comfortable in ambiguous / messy environments
Diplomatic professional and confident

Travel & Schedule

40 50% travel (U.S. Canada)
Onsite in Naperville 1 2 days per week
Schedule flexibility based on site size and rollout timing
