Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers in offices throughout the United States Europe Asia and the Middle East. We are currently seeking a Practice Assistant to support the Corporate practice working under the general supervision of assigned attorneys and practice management.
The role will reside in the New York office with hybrid work capabilities and will be responsible for supporting our Corporate Debt Finance team and Firmwide Paralegal team across key areas of focus. The Practice Assistant is expected to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service to the firms clients attorneys advisors and staff while maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities of this position include:
- Maintain precedent database by adding closed deals and Debt Reviews and tagging them with all relevant datapoints.
- Assist in the preparation of Tear Sheets by summarizing key terms of debt documents and Liability Management Playbooks for target credits.
- Track completed in process and updated Debt Reviews Key Observations and Tear Sheets in in attorney-facing reports.
- Track target credits in credit market news and analysis platforms including Reorg LevFin Insights and Debtwire.
- Pull debt documents capital structures and other materials from SEC Edgar and other sources for target credits.
- Assist assigned attorneys and Paralegal Manager in ad hoc projects and tasks as needed.
Qualifications (Experience Knowledge Skills & Abilities):
- BA/BS degree required
- Familiarity with specific areas of law as required
- Strong analytical and research skills
- Proficiency in Word Excel Outlook and PowerPoint and the ability to quickly learn and utilize additional software and systems
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate potentially detailed and complex information to others
- Strong attention to detail with the aptitude and willingness to work with complex procedures
- Proven organizational skills; ability to execute identified initiatives and processes in a timely manner
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adjust to changing priorities in a professional manner
- Strong ability to work independently and with teams creatively and proactively
- Strong work ethic with the willingness and ability to assume new tasks and responsibilities
- Strong service orientation and an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with users peers office and firm management and outside business partners
- Ability to work well under pressure facilitate solutions and meet deadlines and milestones for projects assigned

The anticipated base salary range for this position in New York is $60000 to $65000. The actual salary offered will be based on several factors including but not limited to relevant education qualifications years of relevant experience certifications or other professional licenses held job-related knowledge and skills business needs and the location from which the work will be performed. Additionally salary or hourly wages may be only part of the total compensation package which may also include a full range of health and other insurance benefits financial and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility) a discretionary bonus and various paid time off benefits.
