Job Summary

Weld Shop Foreman - Night Shift
Purpose:
Accurity Industrial Contractors a business unit of Colonnas Shipyard isseeking a highly detail-oriented and experienced Weld Shop Foreman to join our nightshift team in Owensboro KY.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a crew to produce high-quality work maintaining smooth workflow between shifts and ensuring the shop continues to meet customer deadlines.
Accurity Industrial Contractors LLC. is a premier specialty mechanical and industrial contractor that is focused on welding piping and industrial plant maintenance services. Accurity is well versed in ASME code welding boiler and tank work/repairs critical part and component removal and replacement heavy rigging and lifting structural steel installation and turnkey general mechanical construction projects. We are centrally located in Owensboro KY and service the entire Southeast and Midwest portions of the United States.
Essential Duties andResponsibilities:
Key responsibilities include:
  • Manages key activities in the employee lifecycle for all direct reports on second shift (timekeeping job assignments training performance management coaching/counselling supervision etc.) and ensure employees have all necessary tools equipment work procedures etc. to work safely and efficiently.
  • Coordinate workflow between shifts to maintain project continuity.
  • Report directly to the Shop Project Manager and complete daily timesheets accurately.
  • Breaks broader production strategies down to practical action plans to support safety quality cost and schedule goals while providing constant monitoring of job sites.
  • Evaluates job sites and work environments prior to work starting to ensure safe project set ups and efficient work evolutions.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with all technical aspects of the job including adherence to all contract requirements drawings procedures/work instructions etc.
  • Directly supervise steel employees in work daily tasks to verify and ensure conformance to specifications drawings procedures and quality schedule and budget.
  • Interpret company policy to workers and enforce safety and environmental regulationsspecifications blueprints sketches and work orders to employees.
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods equipment performance and quality of customer product.
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of workers.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws.
  • Plan assign and direct all work.
  • Address complaints and resolve them as needed.
  • Planning and preparing a fabrication shop schedule for all known and anticipated work based on staffing and material resources.
  • Layout mild steel and stainless steel heavy and light structure frames skids piping and other projects for fabrication.
  • Monitor and support all shop projects maintaining high quality on time delivery safety and staying within budget.
  • Understanding and adhering to the defined scope of work.
  • Follow company procedures regarding material procurement and return; pre-planning equipment and material needs.
  • Document and maintain files of weekly tool-box safety training accomplished.
  • Maintain equipment and ensure all work is performed to company and industry standards.
Additionally position will:
  • Provides daily updates to management to support POD development and execution.
  • Review project specifications/SOWs and order all project materials in accordance with contract requirements and associated references.
  • Generates and submits production reports meeting all technical/customer requirements to management.
  • Ensure tools/resources are mobilized and demobilized from project appropriately providing updates on damaged or lost equipment.
  • Responsible for projects chemist certificate daily CPs and hot work permits.
  • Manages and initiates QA/Customer calls out and attends/executes TIP inspections.
  • May serve as backup/makeup to General Foreman as needed.
RequiredQualifications:
  • Must have several years of hands on welding and fabrication experience with specific experience in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Must be able to understand job specifications drawings and corresponding technical references.
  • Must have strong technical knowledge of welding processes and equipment.
  • Must have proven leadership and communication skills to motivate and manage a team effectively.
  • Must have expert level knowledge of all welding methods procedures and quality control.
  • Must have working knowledge of design principles AMSE/AWS codes and safety standards.
  • Must have working knowledge of all tools and equipment i.e. overhead cranes saw iron workers shears brakes welding equipment.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in a supervisory or foreman role preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job but no less than 20 lbs.
  • Must be physically agile to perform tasks in naval ships. Able to work on and climb ladders work in extreme temperature environments aboard ships in shipyards under industrial conditions and in confined spaces including enter and moving through manholes.
  • May ride ships at sea for extended periods
  • Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat humidity noise and dirty conditions working aloft or over the sides of vessels.
  • Frequent exposure to noise due to machinery and equipment.
  • Employee is required to operate trucks forklifts & man-lifts.
  • While performing the duties of this job you may frequently be required to stand walk & sit; use hands or fingers; handle or feel; talk and required to reach with hands and arms climb and balance stoop squat kneel twist and crawl.
  • Work in extreme temperatures and conditions. At times you will work in areas that have less adequate ventilation
  • Frequent use of respirator.
  • Protective clothing or equipment and face shields or goggles shall be worn when welding cutting or working with molten metal.
