Job Summary

The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) enriches the environment and protects public health for all New Yorkers by providing 1.1 billion gallons of high-quality drinking water managing wastewater and stormwater and reducing air noise and hazardous materials pollution. DEP is the largest combined municipal water and wastewater utility in the country with nearly 6000 employees. DEPs water supply system is comprised of 19 reservoirs and 3 controlled lakes throughout the systems 2000 square mile watershed that extends 125 miles north and west of the city.

The Office of Equal Employment Opportunity and Diversity (EEO&D) is charged with promoting consistency and fairness in our employment practices and driving diversity and inclusion in all assets of our business. The EEO&D is responsible for ensuring compliance with the Citys EEO Policy and works in partnership with Organizational Development & Human Resources (OD&HR) Labor Relations & Discipline and Bureau Management to meet the Citys compliance requirements under applicable anti-discrimination law policy mandates and best practices. DEPs EEO&D is responsible for ensuring equal employment opportunity for all employees and job applicants. The selected candidate will also conduct legal research on related EEO matters; work on EEO backlog case files data migration into the new EEO database and publish the EEO newsletter. Assist with planning and implementation of numerous diversity and inclusion events and other initiatives within the EEO office.

In addition the summer intern will develop a final presentation to display assignments they have been involved with while working as an intern at the DEP Interns Closing Ceremony.

Qualifications :

Candidates must be currently enrolled in a graduate degree program in an accredited college university or law school.
