Proposals Engineer Gauteng
Reports to: Sales & Proposals Manager
This is a high-impact role focused on driving the growth of our Boiler and Environmental Division. You will be responsible for the end-to-end tender processfrom initial site visits and technical design liaison to final commercial presentationsensuring we meet our annual sales and profit targets through precision and strategy.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSc BEng or BTech).
- 5 10 years as an Engineer in a Utility Boiler environment or similar
- Certifications: A Sales Certificate (or equivalent) is highly advantageous.
- Contractual Knowledge: Proficiency in NEC and FIDIC contract suites is essential.
- Software: Advanced MS Office skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Assessment: Review complex customer enquiry documents and conduct site visits to accurately ascertain site-specific requirements.
- Collaboration & Design: Work closely with the Applications Engineering Manager to define technical scopes and ensure design integrity.
- Supply Chain Management: Prepare issue and adjudicate enquiries to sub-contractors to ensure competitive and capable project support.
- Commercial Strategy: Partner with Estimating Finance and Planning departments to align on commercial conditions pricing and delivery timelines.
- Tender Management: Lead the compilation and timely submission of high-quality tenders. Present final proposals to management during pricing reviews.
- Customer Relationship Management: Maintain a proactive presence with clients via site visits and regular communication to secure the win.
- Process Excellence: Contribute to the standardisation of estimating and marketing procedures to improve team efficiency and system administration.
