Job Description Summary

The Manufacturing Engineering Development Program (MEDP) is a 2-year development program in manufacturing focused on developing and accelerating technical expertise across the Supply Chain. Engineers in the MEDP will work in manufacturing engineering assignments to gain experience through a mix of on-the-job training and classroom education structured to provide a foundation of technical and leadership skills. Youll complete two 12-month assignments to cultivate growth in key technical disciplines and engineering addition the MEDP will foster mentorship and structured learning opportunities with our team of manufacturing experts. Upon completion you will be ready for promotional opportunities to further advance in GE Aerospace.

Role Overview:

  • Provide daily hands-on support to shop floor personnel to help facilitate problem-solving and process improvements related to production or development labs.

  • Apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing skills and interpret blueprints to facilitate component manufacturing processes.

  • Utilize various design and analytical software to support and improve manufacturing processes.

  • Advance and develop manufacturing planning processes and work instructions.

  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements to improve product quality increase throughput and reduce manufacturing costs.

  • Collect and analyze data from manufacturing processes to drive short- and long-term actions that support production.

  • Apply Lean and Six Sigma tools to identify waste and support decision-making processes.

  • Manage project plans related to manufacturing changes and collaborate with various functions to drive action and project closure.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a high-performing engineering graduate who is eager to be hands-on in a fast-paced manufacturing environment applying strong analytical skills Lean thinking and clear communication to drive process improvements and support safe sustainable aerospace production.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Aerospace Engineering or a related Engineering school

  • Minimum 3.8 cumulative GPA off a 5 scale without rounding

Preferred Qualifications

  • Desire to be hands-on in a manufacturing environment

  • Respectful receptive agile eager to learn

  • Shares critical information speaks with honesty contributes constructively

  • Quick learner strategically prioritizes work committed and takes initiative

  • Leadership ability: strong communicator decision-maker collaborative teamwork

  • Problem solver: analytical-minded challenges existing processes critical thinker

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced shop floor environment around various machine tools and equipment

  • Previous Internship or experiences in a related field is considered an asset

  • Demonstrated commitment to community and/or university involvement

  • Knowledge of manufacturing technologies
