We are seeking an enthusiastic and organised ward clerk to join our supportive team of midwives and multidisciplinary staff in the Postnatal Maternity Unit.
This full-time position is essential to the efficient operation of the postnatal ward and plays a key role in ensuring a welcoming well-coordinated experience for postnatal families.
About the Role
As the ward clerk you will be the first point of contact for families visitors and staff providing warm professional and efficient clerical and access support.
Key responsibilities include:
Acting as the first point of contact for anyone arriving on the ward
Managing clerical administration for patients episodes of care
Providing patient liaison and access support
Supporting the Nurse Unit Manager and ward staff with clerical and administrative functions
Support patient flow by assisting with patient admissions transfers and discharge processes
Answering telephone enquiries and maintaining accurate records using hospital information systems
About You

Knowledge & Experience
Previous customer service experience including face-to-face telephone and written communication
Previous health clerical experience (desirable)
Experience with the IBA Patient Management System or willingness to learn

Excellent communication skills with the ability to respond compassionately in a hospital setting
Proven time management and organisational skills
Proficient computer skills
Flexibility responding to new and complex situations by adjusting behaviour appropriately

Demonstrated commitment to managing clinical and clerical administration within a postnatal ward and upholding standards of service excellence
