Like WCG you believe in the power of work. As a Career Advisor you will support clients as they move along their career continuum helping them build the skills and confidence needed to achieve sustainable employment or pursue further training.

Youll develop strong positive relationships with clients providing guidance motivation and individualized case management. Your support will include résumé development interview preparation and coaching clients to recognize and build on their strengths.

As the clients primary point of contact youll ensure seamless service delivery and help them progress toward greater independence selfsufficiency and successful employment outcomes.

What youll do

  • Interview/ assess potential clients to determine eligibility acceptance job readiness and appropriate stream of service
  • Provide information about service objectives and expectations for client participation while in service
  • Collaborate with the client to develop update and revise service plans in line with policy
  • Support and monitor the progress of each client by reviewing the clients progress and comparing it against the clients Service Plan verify client engagement ensure documentation requirements are being completed and perform general oversight activities
  • Refer client to external community resources as required and follow up on referrals as appropriate
  • Support the client in their career journey including motivating career consulting resume reviews interview preparation training research and developing service plans
  • Provide services in a manner that is welcoming safe and professional and ensures that client privacy is protected
  • Stay up to date on any other programs or resources that clients may access

Qualifications :

What you bring

  • Post-secondary certificate degree or diploma in a relevant field (e.g. career or employment development vocational rehabilitation social work psychology sociology human services counselling education or human resources management) or related experience
  • 2 years of demonstrated experience in coaching and mentoring clients; working with individuals from diverse groups; working with individuals and building partnerships with community agencies and other stakeholders
  • Experience working with Persons with Disabilities and/or high barrier clients Successful track record helping clients overcome challenges to employment  Flexible creative and able to adapt quickly to changing requirements and targets  Able to manage stressful situations in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of the local labour market community resources government programs job search techniques career development and issues relating to unemployment
  • Strong digital literacy including social media and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Solid understanding of confidentiality and other professional codes of conduct
  • Must be able to provide a criminal record check

Preferred Criteria:

  • Career Development Practitioner (CDP) certification considered an asset
