Goodwill Alberta Connect is a comprehensive client-centered model designed to support Persons with Disabilities and individuals facing barriers to employment through an integrated approach that combines innovation wraparound supports and employer support. The model is built on three core components: a technology-enabled Resource Centre; a two-stream employment support pathway and Employer Services to support organizations to hire inclusively. By integrating employer education and structured work or volunteer experiences the program promotes sustainable employment outcomes and helps reduce systemic barriers.

Reporting to the Program Manager this Career & Life Coach will work with participants (i.e. people with disabilities and other barriers) to provide career advice employment support and life stability supports to ensure each participant is equipped to succeed at life and at work. This role supports continuity across both streams of the Goodwill Alberta Connect program. While service delivery is shared among the team the Career and Life Coach helps participants navigate and access support across streams as needed with the goal of maximizing efficiency and providing an exceptional participant experience.

What youll do:

  • Support Intake Interviews and completion of needs assessments to determine fit with program service stream and career and life goals.
  • Develop outcome-based support plans addressing:
    • career preparation development and advancement
    • required supports regarding education (e.g. ESL ) transportation housing financial literacy childcare and family relationships
    • navigating government programs (e.g. AISH ADAP EI)
    • crisis management
  • Identify barriers to employment and provide coaching and/or workshops on job readiness skills job search strategies writing resumes and preparation for job interviews.
  • Provide participants already employed with information support and strategies for maintaining a job moving to another role within an organization or changing jobs.
  • Support with the enrolment of necessary exposure courses.
  • Provide life coaching through the use of motivational interviewing to help participants gain clarity increase self-awareness self-identify their strengths understand barriers to self-sufficiency and determine their goals in life and work.
  • Assist participants in developing a continuous improvement action plan that identifies goals resources action steps and target completion dates.
  • Provide ongoing support to participants to ensure progress of their action plan and hold participants accountable to their goals.
  • Attend relevant community events and develop relationships to promote the program and secure community resources and employment opportunities.
  • Assist with the facilitation of skill building workshops.
  • Provide support at the main and satellite resource centers.
  • Maintain documentation of all coaching training counselling referral and case management activities via timely thorough and accurate case notes and data entry into the relevant case management system. (e.g. ETO Compass etc.)

What you bring to the table:

  • Degree diploma or graduate certificate in: Coaching Career Development Education Adult Education Human Resources Human Services or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years experience in Career Counselling
  • Coaching Certification or demonstrated experience in life coaching career or personal counselling an asset.
  • Knowledge of and experience navigating community resources.
  • Understanding of the local communitys diverse cultural educational socioeconomic and linguistic needs.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.
  • At least 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to travel to sites throughout the City and surrounding areas.
  • Must pass a criminal record check including Vulnerable Sector Search.
  • Demonstrated coaching experience with the ability to motivate individuals foster independence and selfâconfidence and support individuals through change.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and relationshipâbuilding skills with the ability to engage respectfully with individuals teams and external stakeholders.
  • High level of emotional intelligence including resilience influencing skills and the ability to build trust at all levels.
  • Advanced written verbal and presentation skills including conflict management and negotiation abilities.
  • Strong analytical problemâsolving and decisionâmaking skills with the ability to assess complex situations and make sound recommendations.
  • Excellent organizational and timeâmanagement skills with the ability to plan prioritize and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and comfort using technology to support documentation and reporting.
  • Financial literacy/budget experience an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience navigating community resources an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365.
  • Coaching certification or formal training in life coaching career or personal counselling an asset
  • Experience with financial literacy budgeting or financial coaching an asset.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement learning and adapting to change.
