Pharmacy Operations Coordinator performs a variety of tasks in support of the timely and accurate monitoring and purchase of pharmacy supplies and equipment to maintain established inventory levels according to CSH standards and procedures. Receives and stocks medications and supplies. Coordinates the acquisition of IV therapy solutions tubing and related supplies required for mixing intravenous solutions by pharmacy personnel for the inpatient pharmacy. Serves as the hospital subject matter expert for the automated medication distribution system. Responsible for controlled substance inventory may monitor usage investigate and follow-up on discrepancies and serve as the liaison between automated dispensing cabinets and Nursing for problem resolution as delegated by management. Provides orientation and training to staff regarding the automated medication distribution system. Assists in implementing new procedures and the coordination of daily operations. This position is part of the pharmacy leadership team for that location.

Job Requirements

In addition to bringing humankindness to the workplace each day qualified candidates will need the following:

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma GED or equivalent required
  • Two years of recent pharmacy experience or equivalent required

Licensure and Certifications:

  • Registered Pharmacy Tech in the state in which the employee works PHARMTECH:CO
  • Active CPT-EXCPT or CPT-PTCB or CPHT certification in good standing in the state in which the employee works

Minimum Knowledge Skills Abilities and Training:

  • Knowledge of modern office practices and of the operation of general office equipment and tools.

  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology and abbreviations.

  • Ability to understand and follow routine to moderately complex verbal instructions.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.

  • Ability to read understand and communicate in English sufficient to perform the duties of the position.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as required by the duties of the position

  • Knowledgeable of an automated hospital pharmacy procurement system for the purchase of medications pharmaceutical supplies and IV solutions and supplies.

  • Ability to create different strategies to address medication shortages.

  • Knowledgeable of the ADC hospital based automated medication distribution system.

  • Knowledge of the standards techniques and tools relating to pharmaceutical purchasing.

  • Knowledge of the regulatory requirements applicable to pharmaceutical patient care.

  • Knowledge of mathematical functions including addition subtraction multiplication basic algebra and calculations.

  • Ability to mix oral powders and compounded drugs and to prepare intravenous admixture and other parenteral drugs.

  • Ability to understand and use/apply I.V. admixture automated distribution systems outpatient services and decentralized pharmacy services.

  • Ability to understand and apply standards procedures and techniques to the work assignment..

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as required by the duties of the position.
