Job Summary

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Furniture Designer is responsible for creating innovative functional and aesthetically pleasing furniture designs. This role involves developing concepts producing detailed drawings selecting materials and collaborating with carpenters upholsterers and production teams to bring designs to life. The designer ensures all products meet quality ergonomic and manufacturing standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Develop creative furniture concepts based on market trends customer needs and brand identity.

2. Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using design software (e.g. AutoCAD SketchUp SolidWorks Rhino).

3. Produce technical specifications measurements and material lists for production teams.

4. Collaborate closely with carpenters upholsterers and finishers to ensure design feasibility.

5. Select appropriate materials finishes textiles and hardware for each design.

6. Prepare prototypes and oversee sample development.

7. Modify designs based on feedback from clients management and production.

8. Ensure designs meet cost durability ergonomic and manufacturing requirements.

9. Maintain an updated portfolio of design concepts and completed products.

10. Research new materials trends and manufacturing techniques.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Training in Interior Design Furniture Design Industrial Design or related field (or equivalent experience).
Strong portfolio demonstrating furniture design & production skills creativity.
Proficiency in CAD and 3D modeling software will be an added advantage
Understanding of woodworking upholstery and furniture manufacturing processes.
Knowledge of materials (wood metal fabrics composite materials).

SKILLLS AND COMPETENCIES

Creative thinking and strong aesthetic sense. Technical drawing and spatial design skills.
Ability to balance design vision with manufacturing constraints. Good communication and teamwork abilities.
Strong attention to detail.
Problem-solving and ability to adapt designs based on feedback.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

Experience working in a furniture workshop or manufacturing environment. Familiarity with CNC machining joinery techniques and ergonomics.
Experience in prototyping and sample development
