IT Operations Manager

The Office of the Comptrollers Bureau of Information Systems provides a full range of technology support services for key business functions and Charter mandated responsibilities of the Comptrollers Office. These services include technology strategic planning web site development graphic design disaster recovery systems development network administration audio/visual services business process re-engineering change management program management security administration service desk computer operations telecommunications and document management.

Under the direction of the Deputy Chief Information Officer for IT Operations the IT Operations Manager will oversee day to day IT operations ensuring systems (networks servers software) run reliably securely and in compliance with standards and regulations. The selected candidate will also participate in strategic projects with a goal to align technology with operational needs as well as act as a liaison between the IT team and external partners such as City agencies vendors consultants and other bureaus within the Comptrollers Office. Key responsibilities include collaborating with the IT Operations Network Operations and Service Desk teams to ensure internal processes procedures and protocols are up to industry-wide standards and are governed by robust and up to date documentation. Additionally the IT Operations Manager will engage with the Applications Development and Cybersecurity teams towards their operational goals and specific objectives.
The IT Operations Manager will be expected to report on agency-wide IT operations as well as recommend new modernized methodologies that will help enhance streamline and scale the IT operations of the Comptrollers Office.

Tasks include but are not limited to the following:

- Serve as the primary source of guidance implementation and adherence to all IT operational procedures protocols and standards.

- Coordinate multiple operations across the IT team to ensure successful and timely completion according to best practices.

- Develop detailed documentation outlining operational standards procedures protocols and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

- Proactively identify and resolve operational issues by engaging stakeholders and implementing risk strategies.

- Effectively communicate status risks and accomplishments to Bureau leadership.

COMPUTER OPERATIONS MANAGER - 1007E

Qualifications :

1. Six (6) years of progressively responsible full-time paid experience supervising or administering computer operations involving a large-scale mainframe network or multi-tier computer environment at least 18 months of which shall have been in an administrative managerial or executive capacity.

2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university may be substituted for a maximum of two (2) years of general experience described the absence of a baccalaureate degree undergraduate credits may be substituted for a maximum of two (2) years of general experience described above on the basis of 30 semester credits for six (6) months of experience.

3. A masters degree in Computer Science Computer Engineering Electrical Engineering Business Administration Public Administration or Management of Administration may be substituted for a maximum of one (1) year of general experience described the absence of a masters degree graduate credits in Computer Science Computer Engineering Electrical Engineering Business Administration Public Administration or Management of Administration may be substituted for a maximum of one (1) year of the general experience on the basis of 30 graduate semester credits for one (1) year of experience. However undergraduate and/or graduate credits may not be substituted for the eighteen (18) months of experience in an administrative managerial or executive capacity.
