The Boeing CompanyThe Boeing Company is currently seeking a Mid-Level Software Engineering Manager to support our Flight Simulation Labs Software team located in Berkeley Missouri. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization.
The selected candidate will be part of a dynamic and cohesive management team in a large cross-functional integrated product team (IPT) developing the modeling and simulation capabilities that enable the cutting-edge capabilities going on today and tomorrows combat aircraft developed by the Air Dominance Division of the Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) business organization.
The ideal candidate will lead an Advanced Flight Simulation Labs (FSL) software team supporting a proprietary program. A strong software leader will work closely with FSL hardware teams and program Mission Systems teams to deliver cutting-edge modeling and simulation capabilities that support the delivery of advanced aircraft capabilities. This role will be responsible for growing the team. The successful candidate will need to work as part of a cohesive leadership team. Adaptability the ability to work closely with others and an open mind are essential attributes of the management team members. Experience in leading teams is required; agile development experience and modeling and simulation or mission systems experience is preferred and highly beneficial.
Position Responsibilities:
Manage employees and first-level managers performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Software Engineering
Develops and executes integrated departmental plans policies and procedures and provides input on departmental business and technical strategies goals objectives
Acquires resources for department activities provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements
Develops and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers stakeholders peers partners and direct reports
Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches products and processes
Manages develops and motivates employees and first-level managers
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
5 or more years of leadership experience ideally leading software teams
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering engineering technology (including manufacturing engineering technology) chemistry physics mathematics data science or computer science.
1 years experience working on real time Modeling and Simulation and/or Mission Systems products
Working knowledge of the Scale Agile Framework (SAFe)
1 years experience with Earned Value Management
