Moonee Valley City Council is seeking a passionate and strategic leader to join us as our Senior Coordinator Umarkoo Wayi (Equity and Inclusion)a role dedicated to shaping a fairer more inclusive future for all who live work and play in our community.

Umarkoo Wayi means All of us in Woiwurrung language gifted to Council by Wurundjeri Woiwurrung Elders. This name reflects both our purpose and our commitment: ensuring every person every story and every lived experience is valued in the work we do.

In this senior leadership role you will guide and empower a multidisciplinary team spanning across youth access and inclusion reconciliation LGBTIQA plus; inclusion and community safety/prevention of violence. You will provide strategic advice across the organisation strengthen partnerships influence policy and lead programs that advance equity and access across Moonee Valley.

This is an opportunity to work at a systems levelbringing intersectional evidenceinformed practice into real action. Youll collaborate widely support organisational change oversee key portfolios and plans and help shape the next chapter of our inclusive community vision (MV2040 Council Plan and Health Plan).

  • Experience managing multidisciplinary specialised teams: Ability to build psychologically safe inclusive environments where staff with diverse backgrounds and lived experience can thrive.
  • Strong political awareness and understanding of public policy environments
  • Highly developed communication and stakeholderengagement skills.
  • Strategic thinking analytical capability and evidenceinformed practice
  • Ability to manage budgets resources and complex portfolios
  • Relevant qualifications (desirable): A degree in social sciences public policy community development or a related discipline supported by substantial experience.
