Summary: The Executive Director of El Camino de San Antonio Missions provides forward looking faith-centered and organizational leadership for the El Camino de San Antonio Missions pilgrimage program a central evangelization initiative of the Archdiocese of San Antonio. This role advances pilgrimage as a lived expression of faith rooted in Catholic tradition history and the sacred spaces of the San Antonio Missions. The Director responsibilities include supervision of staff oversight of operations budget management facility and administration management.

Requirements

Position Responsibilities:

  • *Provide leadership for and supervision of El Camino staff as a ministry of evangelization aligned with Catholic teaching and Archdiocesan priorities.
  • *Oversee pilgrimage programs for individuals parishes schools and visiting groups.
  • *Serve as primary liaison with Mission pastors parish staff Archdiocesan offices and pilgrimage stakeholders.
  • *Initiate strategic planning efforts when needed and support advisory boards as assigned.
  • *Develop maintain and oversee partnerships with Mission Parishes Archdiocesan Parishes National Park Service City of San Antonio Parks Bexar County San Antonio River Authority civic agencies cultural institutions San Antonio Chamber of Commerce etc.
  • *Oversee all operations of the El Camino Campus.
  • *Identifies and addresses any operational inefficiencies.
  • *Oversee scheduling and facility use ensuring hospitality and safety.
  • *Oversee the overall maintenance safety security and major projects of the El Camino campus.
  • *Direct annual schedule of maintenance and custodial work and completes minor repairs and regular maintenance to meet the needs of the campus.
  • *Collaborate with Archdiocesan Business Office on budgeting financial planning and stewardship of resources. Review and analyze the El Camino budget annual and standard reports balance sheet accounts receivable and payable and general ledger.
  • *Monitor budget to actual performance.
  • *Oversee check requests and purchasing while ensuring correct allocation of costs.
  • *Drafts and updates internal controls and processes and ensures internal controls are in place and followed.
  • *Oversee pilgrimage and marketing materials communication and outreach efforts to ensure alignment with the mission and vision.
  • Provide oversight of volunteer (Camino) support program.
  • Support donor engagement and fundraising efforts to sustain El Camino initiatives.
  • *Motivate employees by leading by example resolving issues and making sound decisions.
  • *Ensures the mission vision values and priorities of El Camino is communicated clearly and carried out effectively efficiently and collaboratively.
  • *Establish and implement strategic short- and long-term office goals plans objectives policies and operating procedures.
  • *Monitor employee productivity while providing constructive feedback and coaching.
  • *Prepares reviews and submits bi-weekly payroll in a timely and accurate manner.
  • *Reconciles employee benefits to monthly invoices in a timely and accurate manner.
  • *Monitors staff hours reviews and approves timesheets in a timely manner.
  • Adhering to safety training and protocols daily and taking precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of self others.
  • Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization to include but not limited to client names and information services rendered to clients donors names and gifts internal and external investigations or results of any investigations and financial information.
  • Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral Policy is mandatory.
  • Every employee is required to take a solution-oriented approach in their interactions and undertakings as well as being a team member that promotes collaboration and commitment to the Mission and Vision of the organization.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelors degree required in business administration or business-related field.
  • Degree in Pastoral Ministry preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum of seven (7) years experience in operations management directing and managing administrative functions.
  • Minimum of five (5) years leadership experience
  • Previous experience in ministry nonprofit management or pilgrimage programs.
  • Experience walking pilgrimages. Having walked the Camino de Santiago de Compostela preferred.
License and Credentials:
  • Reliable transportation
  • Valid driver license
  • Valid vehicle insurance
Minimum Knowledge and Skills:
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Roman Catholic in good standing; understanding of Catholic theology and Franciscan mission heritage preferred.
  • Must demonstrate customer service and hospitality consistent with the Churchs evangelizing mission.
  • Excellent management and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent analytical decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of Square payment system or ability to learn.
  • Knowledge of Intuit platform including Quick Books or ability to learn.
  • Knowledge of financial processes for accounts receivable and payable.
  • Solid understanding of and ability to adhere to General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Thorough understanding of operations policies and practices.
  • Experience in relationship management with contractors vendors etc.
  • A solid grasp of project and contract management principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of security systems and basic information technology.
  • Knowledge of general maintenance requirements of facilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to handle minor repairs and regular facility maintenance.
  • Experience with computer software and extensive experience in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to effectively identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; ability to pivot to shifting priorities at a moments notice and make sound decisions.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Must be detail oriented organized self-motivated work well independently and on a team.
  • Must have good written and verbal skills.
  • Must have good critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Travel Requirements: Travel requirements for the position include 50% local and 1% overnight.
