Job Summary

Responsible for providing services to ensure that students with disabilities have access to opportunities available at the College. Develop and implement programs and services for at-risk students.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide services to assist students with identified accommodation needs and concerns that affect academic success.
  • Advocate for and coordinate special accommodations with faculty for students with documented disabilities.
  • Maintain documentation required for providing accommodations.
  • Identify secure and coordinate in accordance with the American Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 appropriate and reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities.
  • Communicate concerns and provide necessary support and materials for faculty staff and other service providers to assist in the identification and development of methods to assist students.
  • Establish and maintain referral resources and relationships with external agencies and programs to provide additional services for students.
  • Maintain confidential student contact records.
  • Conduct all activities within the established guidelines of the family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates degree required bachelors degree preferred.
  • Experience in disabilities support services and/or experience working with special student populations preferred.
  • Must be knowledgeable of state and federal statutes and regulations.
  • Must have strong organizational skills and an understanding of teaching delivery systems including distance education.
