Enrolled Nurse Day Surgery

Your role at St John of God Geelong Hospital

We are currently seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Enrolled Nurses to join our Day Surgery Unit on casual basis. The unit operates Monday to Friday between 6:30 AM and 9:00 PM with staggered shifts scheduled across these hours to support operational needs.

Our Day Surgery Unit features 25 bays and on average sees around 80 cases per day providing a fast-paced and dynamic environment. We are looking for nurses who are adaptable team-oriented and committed to delivering high-quality patient care.

Previous experience in day surgery is preferred. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a supportive and professional team making a difference in patients lives every day.

As an Enrolled Nurse youll cater to the pre & post operative journey of our surgical patients with exposure to a range of specialities including General Surgery Urology Gynaecology Orthopaedics Dental Plastics ENT (involving a large number of Paediatrics) and addition our Day Surgery Unit also accommodates pre & post-operative Cardiac Cath Lab patients largely focusing on diagnostic angiograms.

The Position

• Assesses plans delivers and evaluates patient care seeking support from senior staff as required.

• Promotes and contributes to effective communication facilitating teamwork and cooperation within the department and within the hospital.

• Contributes to the achievement of Hospital and Clinical Services operational objectives.

• Participate in patient assessments including mental health risk assessment and management history taking and developing comprehensive nursing care plans. Ensuring risks are documented and appropriate interventions referrals are facilitated.

• Administer medication within scope of the Enrolled Nurse classification and in accordance with statutory and organisational guidelines under the direct or indirect supervision of the Registered Nurse.

• Advise and educate patients regarding treatment and recovery in relevant specialty.

You will have a registration with Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as an Enrolled Nurse and demonstrate a minimum of 2 years clinical experience in a relevant specialty. You will demonstrate a commitment to quality patient care and satisfaction along with well-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills.

To succeed you will have an ability to work effectively and harmoniously within the multi-disciplinary health care team with a commitment to ongoing education and professional development.

The Benefits:

• Enrolled Nurse hourly rate: $40.77 to $48.67 per hour (casual loading included) plus 12% superannuation
