Job Summary

Position Summary: The Executive Director serves as a strategic leader of the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce responsible for advancing the Chambers mission financial sustainability member value and regional business growth and competitiveness. The Executive Director provides vision operational leadership and community stewardship while overseeing staff programs partnerships and revenue generation.

Essential Duties: Essential job duties for this position include the following items. Other duties must be performed as assigned or required.

Board & Organizational Strategy Support:

  • Support the CEO in board development by contributing to strategic discussions goal setting and leadership continuity.
  • Lead cross functional planning to ensure staff initiatives are coordinated outcomes-driven and community centered.
  • Ensure strong governance practices policy compliance and alignment with the Chambers mission and values.
  • Use data and key performance indicators to inform decisions demonstrate value and measure organizational impact

Fiscal Management & Responsibilities:

  • Lead event revenue production strategy to ensure profitability and strong return on investment.
  • Identify and implement new and existing revenue opportunities aligned with member needs and market demand.

Membership & Events Management:

  • Provide oversight of sales & membership strategy including recruitment engagement retention and value delivery.
  • Responsible for fostering relationships with lead investors and securing sponsorships.
  • Leads the membership sales team setting and obtaining membership and sponsorship goals training and membership program implementation.

  • Ensure strong member relationship management practices and data-driven retention initiatives.
  • Oversee Chamber programs signature events and initiatives to ensure quality relevance and financial performance.
  • Oversee and support Chamber events membership staff and sales while fostering a high-performing collaborative culture.

Small Business Support

  • Oversee and advance small and minority business initiatives ensuring inclusive access to Chamber resources and opportunities.

Advocacy & Community Support

  • Represent the Chamber in the community with elected officials partner organizations media and regional coalitions.
  • Provide leadership on business advocacy priorities in coordination with the Board and members.
  • Oversee government affairs team in the creation of Chamber annual legislative priorities.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Membership & Event Staff Small & Minority Business Staff and Government Affairs Staff

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully the individual in this position must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge skills and ability required.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration Management Communications Economic Development or other business field
  • 5 7 years of senior leadership experience in a chamber nonprofit economic development or related organization.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills as well as competence in public speaking
  • Excellent skills in time management prioritizing while working in a fast-paced environment
  • Mentor-coach temperament and skills
  • High level of professionalism and confidentiality
  • Availability to work occasional non-traditional hours (early morning evenings weekends)

Equipment and Software Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel Word PowerPoint and Outlook

  • Must be able to operate standard office equipment including telephone calculator computer printer typewriter fax and copier.

Certificates Licenses Registrations:

  • Must possess a valid drivers license and be insurable

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations

  • Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers clients customers and the general public

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts interest commissions proportions and percentages

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form

  • Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions
