On behalf of our client an agri-tech startup specializing in source cacao fermentation we are recruiting a Site Manager for their research and development center based in Ntui Cameroon. As a startup they value entrepreneurial spirit adaptability and hands-on problem-solving in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
Position Overview
We are seeking a versatile entrepreneurial Site Manager to lead all operations at the Cacao Fermentation Center in Ntui. This is not a traditional corporate role.
It requires a unique blend of creativity operational rigor commercial acumen and startup mentality.
You will wear multiple hats: production manager financial controller community liaison and global ambassador. We need someone who thrives in ambiguity takes initiative and is comfortable building systems from the ground up while managing day-to-day operations.
This is a full-time site-based position requiring permanent relocation to Ntui. We are looking for a self-starter who can work autonomously in a rural setting while remaining connected to our global vision.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Production Leadership
- Oversee end-to-end cacao fermentation processing and production activities
- Develop implement and continuously update SOPs based on experimentation and global best practices
- Optimize production schedules throughput and cost control to maximize efficiency
- Monitor fermentation quality and ensure compliance with food safety standards (HACCP principles)
- Maintain equipment and facilities with minimal downtime
- Manage supply chain logistics: raw material procurement inventory control and distribution
Team & Stakeholder Management
- Lead mentor and develop the on-site team in a complex multicultural environment
- Build strong relationships with local farmers to improve quality engagement and process flow
- Coordinate with local authorities municipalities and community stakeholders
- Represent the company professionally with international visitors investors and partners
- Position Ntui as a global reference center for source fermented cacao
Financial & Administrative Oversight
- Manage site budget control costs and ensure financial discipline typical of a startup environment
- Prepare P&L reports and provide transparent financial tracking to senior management
- Handle compliance documentation and regulatory requirements for local and international operations
- Contribute to annual planning as part of the global management team
Data-Driven Decision Making
- Ensure all management decisions are backed by quality operational and performance data
- Track KPIs analyze results and implement strategic improvements
- Test new processes and document insights for scalability
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture Agronomy Business Management Supply Chain or related field
- Min 5 years in factory/production management agricultural processing or agribusiness operations (tropical environment strongly preferred)
- Experience in startup entrepreneurial or resource-constrained environments is a major asset
Technical & Business Skills:
- Proven ability to manage operations teams and budgets autonomously
- Strong problem-solving skills and comfort with ambiguity
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and quality assurance in agricultural production
- Familiarity with supply chain management and logistics coordination
- Ability to liaise with government bodies and local authorities
Language & Communication:
- Bilingual (English and French) - non-negotiable
- Excellent interpersonal skills for engaging farmers teams visitors and international stakeholders
Personal Attributes:
- Entrepreneurial mindset with startup resilience
- Hands-on leader unafraid of rolling up sleeves
- Adaptable creative and commercially minded
- Comfortable living and working full-time in Ntui with occasional travel
