Primary Role
This is a senior position and the successful candidate will be a member of the schools management structure. The holder has the key task of leading and managing the academic life of the center and plays a crucial role in whole-school strategy and development. You will inspire teachers to deliver high-quality communicative lessons. You will also be responsible for communicating with the Center Director and Group Leaders about academic-related matters.
Duties and responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
Lead and manage the Academic Team in the center by encouraging supporting and challenging teachers to maintain ISV USAs high academic standards
Ensure teachers prepare lessons and adapt material/stages to their class composition and support teachers in delivering the ISV USA syllabus
Deal with day-to-day issues of the academic department as and when they arise and with student and group leader enquiries on academic matters
Ensure teachers are present in their assigned classrooms prior to the commencement of each lesson adhering strictly to the official ISV USA timetable
Deal with student discipline issues and report any persistent bad behavior to the Centre Director
Attend and assist in welcome meetings and graduation ceremonies as required by the Centre Director
Staff Management
Ensure there is a clear communication channel with staff and have an open-door policy
Monitor staff performance and teachers prompt completion of all administrative tasks required
Chair academic meetings in the center
Serve as the primary contact for all teacher inquiries offering essential advice and support
Cover for absent staff
Arrange cover for absent staff and record and monitor all absences
Supervise the preparation of student reports within agreed deadlines
Inform the Academic Manager of all academic needs in the center
Delegate tasks to an assistant if available while providing necessary support and guidance
Conduct formal observations and provide feedback according to the ISV USA observation guidelines and rubric
Administrative
Assist the Academic Manager with student admissions monitor and manage arrangements for entrance testing and assessment
Oversee the allocation of staff in consultation with the Academic Manager
Oversee the timetabling and administration of preparation
Monitor live updates of student attendance online and liaise with the Centre Director on student attendance matters
Supervise the completion of up-to-date teaching records online and student feedback questionnaires
Maintain accurate and complete online staff and student records including completing and sending off staff timesheets for payment.
Program Setup
Attend all required training and orientation meetings before the session starts.
Review ESL curriculum lesson plans and accompanying materials before the program begins.
Participate in student welcome meeting if required
Be proactive in providing support and guidance to teachers including leading teacher training day
Supply additional materials to supplement the curriculum where necessary
Participate in and assist with the session graduation ceremony
Equipment and Facilities
Effectively manage resources and materials making sure that they are returned to the staff room at the end of each teaching day
Ensure teachers rooms and classrooms are left secure and tidy after use
Ensure borrowed equipment has been returned
Help develop advance and expand teaching resources
Keep an inventory of materials and ensure any unused items are returned to the Head Office at the end of the summer.
Safeguarding and Welfare
Prioritize the safety and welfare of students at all times.
Provide safety and welfare assistance to students
Report any issues which may be affecting students safety wellbeing and academic performance
Be aware of relevant fire health and safety issues in the classroom and around the center
Ensure all staff are aware of accident and emergency procedures
Professional Conduct
Uphold and actively contribute to ISV USAs mission of delivering high-quality programs.
Maintain a professional and presentable appearance.
Ensure teachers maintain smart dress and professional behavior at all times.
Ensure prompt start times for all scheduled duties; if unavoidable delays occur notify your manager immediately.
Cultivate positive professional relationships with teachers students and ISV colleagues and represent ISV USA positively in all conversations with clients staff and the host center.
ISV USA strictly enforces a zero-tolerance policy against abusive behavior including violence threatening or disrespectful behavior or disorderly conduct.

Requirements
Essential
Must have the right to work in the US and complete a satisfactory criminal background check if required;
An advanced degree (masters level or above) preferably in TESOL Applied Linguistics or a related field is required
Proven suitability to work with students under 18: at least 2 references
35 years ESL or English teaching experience with teenagers
Be proficient in the use of IT
Desirable
ESL or English Summer School Teaching/Managerial experience in the US
