Job Summary
Position Title: Assistant Basketball Coach
Program: VCHS Mens Basketball
Location: Vance County High School
Position Summary
Vance County High School is seeking a dedicated and motivated Assistant Mens Basketball Coach to support the basketball program. The assistant coach will work collaboratively with the head coach to develop student-athletes athletically academically and socially while promoting a positive disciplined and competitive team culture.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the head coach with practice planning game preparation and in-game coaching
Support player development including skill instruction conditioning and fundamentals
Help implement offensive and defensive systems
Supervise and mentor student-athletes during practices games travel and team activities
Promote academic accountability and positive character development
Assist with scouting film review and game strategy
Support team discipline and enforce school district and athletic department policies
Assist with equipment uniforms and facility management as needed
Communicate effectively with players parents staff and administrators
Qualifications
Previous high school or collegiate playing or coaching experience preferred
Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals and strategy
Ability to serve as a positive role model and mentor for student-athletes
Effective communication organization and leadership skills
Commitment to student success teamwork and sportsmanship
Willingness to work evenings weekends and travel as required
Additional Requirements
Must meet all district state and NCHSAA coaching certification requirements
Completion of required background checks and training
Adherence to VCHS district and NCHSAA guidelines
Compensation
Coaching stipend per district schedule
