Role Overview
A large inclusive and forward-thinking primary school located in Fulham Broadway is seeking an experienced and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with autism anxiety learning difficulties and additional needs with a particular focus on secondary transition and inclusion support.
This role is designed for an SEN professional who understands that pupils with SEN often require targeted emotional organisational and social support as they move towards the later stages of primary education. Many of the pupils supported in this role are academically capable but face barriers linked to anxiety executive functioning sensory needs or social communication difficulties.

Key Responsibilities
As an SEN Teaching Assistant with a transition focus your responsibilities will include:
Providing 1:1 SEN support to pupils with autism and additional needs
Supporting pupils in line with EHCP outcomes and individual transition plans
Helping pupils develop organisation independence and self-management skills
Supporting emotional regulation and anxiety management
Assisting pupils with understanding routines expectations and changes
Supporting access to the KS2 curriculum through structured scaffolding
Encouraging positive peer interactions and social confidence
Supporting pupils during unstructured times where anxiety may increase
Working closely with class teachers to ensure inclusive lesson delivery
Liaising with SENCOs regarding transition planning and pupil progress
Observing and recording progress to inform SEN reviews
Maintaining high standards of safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
This role requires a calm encouraging approach and a strong understanding of the challenges SEN pupils may face as they prepare for secondary school.
The Ideal Candidate

Has experience supporting SEN pupils in KS2
Understands autism anxiety and executive functioning difficulties
Can promote independence while providing structured support
Is calm professional and emotionally intelligent
Can build respectful age-appropriate relationships with older pupils

Is reliable organised and committed to long-term SEN work
Experience supporting pupils through school transitions is highly desirable.
Essential Requirements
Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant
Strong understanding of autism and additional learning needs
Commitment to safeguarding and child protection
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
Availability for full-time long-term employment
