We are seeking a patient nurturing and committed SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with additional needs at a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Redbridge starting as soon as possible. This is a highly rewarding role for someone who is passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and helping them thrive both academically and emotionally.
The school has a strong inclusive ethos and a dedicated SEN team that works closely with pupils families and external professionals. Staff are supportive collaborative and committed to creating a positive learning environment where every child feels safe understood and valued.
In this role you will work one-to-one with a pupil who requires additional support throughout the school day. The pupil may have needs such as autism (ASD) ADHD speech and language difficulties or social emotional and mental health needs (SEMH). You will provide consistent support helping the pupil access learning manage emotions and develop confidence and independence.
Key Responsibilities
Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with special educational needs
Support the pupil with learning activities following teacher guidance
Help the pupil regulate emotions and manage behaviour positively
Implement strategies from the pupils IEP EHCP or behaviour plan
Support communication social skills and engagement with peers
Assist with transitions between lessons and activities
Work closely with the class teacher SENCO and wider support staff
Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to teaching staff
Promote independence while offering appropriate levels of support
Follow safeguarding behaviour and school policies at all times

Have experience supporting children with SEN particularly in a 1:1 role
Be calm patient and empathetic
Have a genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs
Be confident supporting behaviour emotional regulation and engagement
Have strong communication and teamwork skills
Be reliable resilient and adaptable
Be committed to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
Experience supporting pupils with ASD ADHD SEMH or communication needs is highly desirable. However the school is also keen to hear from candidates with transferable experience and a strong desire to work in SEN education.
