Job Summary

POSITION: Payroll Specialist

COMPENSATION:Pursuant to Colorado regulations if this job is performed in Colorado the salary range is $55000- $60000 plus bonus potential. âEligible to participate in the company benefits plan. REPORTS TO: Payroll Manager

SUMMARY:

As part of the Cardinal Group Payroll Processing team and under the direct supervision of the Payroll Manager the Payroll Specialist ensures accurate complete and timely processing and performance of payroll-related services. This position is subject to administrative policies and procedures regulations applicable to state and federal statutes. The incumbent will work in partnership with the Payroll Team (Payroll Manager and Sr. Payroll Specialist) as well as other P&C team members to fulfill the requirements of the position.

RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):

Responsibilities:

  • Process bi-weekly and weekly (NY state maintenance workers only) U.S. multistate payroll.
  • Maintain payroll processing calendars and schedules.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of all payrolls.
  • Perform payroll audits and reconciliations.
  • Validate timecards and work hours and calculate wages.
  • Update employee information in the HRIS system including state tax and work location changes.
  • Calculate and audit monthly and quarterly bonus payments using Excel.
  • Process income withholding orders (wage garnishments child support tax levies) in the HRIS and payroll workbook.
  • Maintain records of income withholding orders and notify team members of new orders.
  • Upload and track incoming payroll state tax notices.
  • Submit payroll state tax notices to UKG for resolution and track case resolutions.
  • Maintain and update the Payroll Workbook for each payroll cycle.
  • Respond to employee inquiries related to payroll promptly.
  • Provide backup support for payroll processing during team member absences.
  • Process final paychecks for terminated employees.

Desired Qualifications/Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll processing.
  • Experience with multi-state payroll processing.
  • Knowledge of payroll and tax laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Routine local travel is required to attend training classes client visits or other situations necessary for the accomplishment of some or all of the daily responsibilities of this position. Overnight travel is required to attend training property visits and other situations necessary for the accomplishment of special projects that may be assigned from time to time.
