Your new role

As the Children and Young Persons Practice Leader you will be responsible for providing expert practice leadership on engaging children and young people assessing risk and needs for the infant child young person and family and supporting interventions for infants children and young people impacted by family violence and/or experiencing vulnerabilities due to other factors.

You will proactively build the capability across The Orange Door workforce as a whole working collaboratively to engage with children and young people to ensure that the experiences and voices of children and young people inform the service response in line with The Orange Door Service Model and Best Interests Case Practice Model.

About the Orange Door Program

The Orange Door will deliver a fundamental change to the way we work with women children and families and men. The Orange Door will bring together different workforces and practices to create an integrated The Orange Door team and a consolidated intake point in each The Orange Door area to create a new way of support.

As an integrated model The Orange Door Team will include a mix of staff employed by local Community Service Organisations together with Family Safety Victoria and DFFH. Each organisation will employ a range of staff including Specialist Practice Leaders who will lead the delivery of high quality safe and effective service responses to Victorians seeking support and services through The Orange Door. The Practice Leaders provide consultation and advanced practice leadership and support to practitioners across the whole program.

Each Practice Leader role is employed by a different partner organisation however work closely with one another and as a part of the wider Orange Door Team. The Partner organisations for the Orange Door in the South are Uniting WAYSS Anglicare VACCA Anglicare and DDACL.

Your skills and experience
  • Professional clinical experience and relevant qualification(s) in social work psychology or a related discipline is essential.
  • Current Australian drivers license
  • A strong knowledge and understanding of the drivers/causes of family violence and child and family vulnerability as well as the child and family services and/or broader social services sector and their fundamental practices and theories is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading practice within complex service delivery contexts particularly multi-disciplinary and multi-agency approaches to the provision of services to vulnerable children families and diverse communities is required
