About the position

The FaPMI program works to support the wellbeing of parents and their children and families through timely coordinated preventive and supportive action within Adult Mental Health and Wellbeing Services (AMHWS).

While contributing to the broader work of the FaPMI Statewide Team this position will primarily focus on developing and supporting 32 Child and Young Person Community Worker roles across the 22 AMHWS. These roles support young people who have caring responsibilities for a parent experiencing mental health challenges.

This role forms part of the expanded FaPMI program established under Recommendation 32.2 of the Royal Commission into Victorias Mental Health System funded by the Victorian Government.

The FaPMI Statewide Team is part of the Practice and Service Development program at the Bouverie Centre.

The FaPMI Statewide Team coordinates the FaPMI program across Victoria. The program is delivered locally by FaPMI Coordinators and FaPMI Child and Young Person Community Workers located across the 22 AMHWS.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position you will have

  • An undergraduate degree in any area relevant to the position with at least 4 years subsequent experience; or extensive experience and management expertise; or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge training and/or experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills especially the capacity to work collaboratively and cooperatively in small teams.
  • Demonstrated organisation and problem-solving skills with an ability to manage several different projects concurrently.
  • Knowledge of the impact of mental health difficulties on families and particularly families where a parent has a mental illness.
  • Experience of providing direct services to people experiencing mental health difficulties and their families in a mental health or related setting.
