Your Role

Mallee District Aboriginal Services (MDAS) is one of Victorias largest Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations.

Were looking for a dedicated Caseworker Intensive & Integrated Family Services(IFS/InFS) to provide case management support to vulnerable Aboriginal children young people and their families.

the Caseworker is responsible for undertaking assessments of the children young people and their family using the Best Interest Case Practice framework. This includesdeveloping child and family action plans with the family then implementing and reviewing progress towards achieving the agreed plans.

A key focus of the role is to maintain children safely within the family home whilst building on the familys strengths resilience connections to culture and to support healing. This includes working in partnership with the family and other services particularly the Mallee Child First alliance to provide intensive services within the Best Interest Case Practice framework.

This is a permanent full time position based at our Swan Hill office location.

Key Selection Criteria

• Demonstrated experience and understanding of child development risk assessment and family centred practices.

• A sound understanding of trans-generational trauma community trauma and the adverse effects along with a sound understanding of the local Aboriginal community family dynamics child rearing practices and issues faced within the local community.

• With a strengths-based approach demonstrated ability to solve problems based on operational knowledge andexperience.

• Demonstrated understanding of therapeutic intervention underpinned by trauma attachmenttheory and resilience.

• Ability to communicate consult liaise and negotiate with a broad range of people both Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal people at all levels to achieve broad project objectives and goals.

• Ability to take action to provide services that are inclusive of Aboriginal people and engage in learning about other cultures to better establish relationships and improve services

Qualification/s:
Qualification of Certificate IV in Community Services or higher or undertake study during first 12 months in the role.

Other Screening Requirements:
Valid Drivers License that allows you to drive in Australia.
Victorian Employee Working with Children Check card.
National Police Check.
