Position Overview
The Engineering Handyman is responsible for overseeing daily facility operations maintenance activities and building systems to ensure optimal performance safety and compliance. This role requires hands-on capabilities to maintain critical client account infrastructure and support operations.
Key Responsibilities
Facility Operations & Maintenance
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and coordinate repair activities to minimize operational disruption. Oversee water treatment programs including testing chemical dosing and compliance with health and safety regulations and L8. Escort service providers to conduct regular generator testing maintenance and coordinate backup power systems to ensure reliability du
- Accountable for ensuring that planned maintenance activities are carried out in compliance with the tasks as set out and Site SOPs Processes and any adopted procedures.
- Maintenance of plant and utilities to ensure appropriate and correct operation to efficiently and reliably operate within specification while ensuring that records are maintained as required by Operational Regulatory and Statutory practice.
- Identifying Planning & scheduling of PPM in all service delivery aspects.
- Act as a competent person in attending Testing and Commissioning with the view to providing feedback on findings and observations.
- Carryout all works in an appropriately health and safety conscious manner following material safety instructions and using permits to work risk assessments method statements where appropriate to do this.
- Maintain records including site specific L8 logbooks IDF/MDF room inspection job report sheets and uploading to contract system Corrigo and appertaining to operations PPM schedule reactive maintenance the emergency maintenance systems and other engineering building fabric records including operation and maintenance manuals and drawings.
- Provide technical support for projects.
- Work alongside the principal contractor to identify training needs.
- Be proactive with regard to preventative/reactive maintenance and out of scope or project works.
- To adhere to the Maintenance Management system (Corrigo) and client account Building Management System in all engineering practices including planned and reactive tasks to meet and exceed the expectations of GRP and agreed service level agreements.
- Undertake small installation works repairs to Mechanical/Electrical & Fabric equipment Quality Arrangements.
- Maintain standard operating procedures (SOP)

Safety & Compliance Management
- All staff are required to fulfil their legal duty to take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and others who may be affected by their acts and omissions and to follow all guidance and instructions given in this respect. - Minimum of 5 years experience in a Multi Skilled Building Services Maintenance Contracting Environment.
- Ability to build and maintain strong Client relationships.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office experience (Excel Word Outlook Teams One Drive Google Drive/Sheets) required.
- Ability to manage and prioritise workload.
- Team player hard worker good interpersonal skills ability to communicate well in both oral and written reports.
- Ability to display initiative confidence and professionalism in all dealings.
- Ability to take ownership and passion to win and a growth mindset.

Technology & Documentation Management
Manage and maintain the Computer Aided Facility Management (CAFM Corrigo) system including work order processing asset tracking preventive maintenance scheduling and reporting. Maintain accurate logbooks documenting daily activities system performance maintenance completed and any incidents or irregularities. Generate regular reports on facility performance maintenance activities and system status for management review.
Team Coordination
Supervise assisting with maintenance staff and coordinate with external contractors/ vendors to ensure work is completed safely efficiently and to specification. Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules and procedures. Train team members on proper procedures safety protocols and new technologies or systems.
Required Qualifications
Ideally one of the two disciplines listed below:
- Trade Qualification Desirable in Carpentry
- Trade Qualification Desirable in Painting & Decorating
Preferrable
- Knowledge of and promotion of emerging IoT or Smart building control technologies.
- IOSH qualification
- SSOW Knowledge Permitting of works ATWs/WAH/Confined Spaces
