Amazon Leo is seeking a Finance Manager to serve as the strategic finance partner to the Leo Launch Operations team a critical and capital-intensive function within Amazons satellite broadband initiative. This role will provide financial leadership for launch vehicle procurement mission planning and orbital deployment operations representing multi-billion commitments and planned investments.
The Finance Manager will operate as a financial strategist and trusted advisor to Launch Operations leadership driving financial decision-making for a complex and dynamic aspect of the Leo program. This role requires deep expertise in capital-intensive project finance the ability to navigate rapidly evolving market conditions for commercial launch services and the strategic acumen to optimize launch economics across a multi-year satellite constellation deployment.
The successful candidate will establish and lead financial governance frameworks change control processes and planning mechanisms that ensure optimal strategies across launch vehicle contracts supporting hardware investments and mission operations. This role demands analytical capabilities strategic thinking and the ability to influence senior leadership in an environment characterized by technical complexity market volatility and operational ambiguity.
Key job responsibilities
Strategic finance partner to Launch Operations for multi-billion dollar launch vehicle procurement mission planning and orbital deployment operations
Design implement and lead comprehensive change control processes and governance frameworks for all launch-related financial commitments establishing thresholds approval authorities and escalation procedures
Develop and maintain comprehensive tracking and reporting systems for launch-related commitments changes and variances providing transparency and accountability across the organization
Develop sophisticated financial models evaluating launch economics across vehicle classes providers and mission profiles incorporating technical constraints and market dynamics
Identify quantify and develop mitigation strategies for financial risks across the launch operations portfolio including launch vehicle pricing volatility schedule delays mission failures provider capacity constraints and regulatory changes
Partner with Mission Management and Legal teams on launch contract negotiations providing financial analysis deal structuring recommendations and evaluation of commercial terms to optimize total cost of ownership
Influence decision-making across multiple infrastructure stakeholders Program Management and Legal through data-driven analysis and strategic recommendations
Serve as the finance spokesperson for launch operations in cross-organizational forums leadership reviews and strategic planning sessions including delivering executive-level presentations to VP/SVP leadership articulating complex launch financial strategies and trade-offs
- 5 years of multiple finance and accounting roles experience
- 5 years of building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making experience
- 5 years of applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses experience
- Bachelors degree in finance accounting or related field
- Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national U.S. permanent resident (i.e. current Green Card holder) or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
- 5 years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models analysis and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g. financial savings operational improvements or customer benefits) experience
- Experience delivering forecasting budgeting and variance analysis and data interpretation of results
- MBA or CPA
- Knowledge of SQL/ETL
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL MS Access Essbase Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle SAP Lawson JD Edwards)

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
