3 months contract with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
Bromsgrove District and Redditch Borough Council are seeking an experienced Homeless & Housing Solutions Officer to support increased service demand.
This is a 3-month agency assignment within Community & Housing Services working on homelessness prevention housing options and case management.
The role is hybrid with 2 days per week on site in Redditch and the remainder working from home.
The post is inside IR35 and offers a fast-paced environment supporting vulnerable households.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
Manage a caseload of homelessness and housing options cases in line with current housing legislation.
Assess homelessness applications and make legally robust decisions under the Housing Act 1996 (as amended).
Deliver homelessness prevention and relief duties identifying suitable housing solutions.
Provide tailored housing advice and support to individuals and families at risk of homelessness.
Prepare clear accurate case notes decision letters and statutory documentation.
Liaise effectively with internal teams registered providers private landlords and partner agencies.
Work to tight deadlines in a high-demand environment while maintaining excellent customer service standards.
Contribute to service targets and performance requirements.
Skills/Experience:
Proven experience in homelessness services or housing options within a local authority or similar setting.
In-depth working knowledge of housing legislation including homelessness duties and case management.
Strong analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to assess complex cases.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage a high caseload in a fast-paced environment.
Confident working independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Experience using housing management or case management systems (desirable).
Additional Information:
Location: Redditch Borough Council Town Hall Walter Stranz Square Redditch B98 8AH.
Working pattern: 37 hours per week hybrid (2 days on site).
