We are seeking a professional organised and proactive HR Officer to join a busy school in Reading starting ASAP. This is a key role supporting the leadership team with all HR and staffing matters ensuring smooth operations and compliance with employment legislation.
The school has a strong inclusive ethos and values its staff. The HR Officer will manage HR processes support recruitment maintain employee records and provide guidance on HR policies playing a vital role in the schools operations.
Key Responsibilities
Manage recruitment processes including advertising shortlisting and arranging interviews
Maintain accurate and up-to-date staff records
Provide support and advice to staff and leadership on HR policies and procedures
Assist with staff induction contracts and payroll processes
Support performance management processes and staff development tracking
Maintain HR databases and filing systems
Ensure compliance with employment law safeguarding and GDPR policies
Assist with staff absence management and record-keeping
Coordinate HR communications between staff leadership and external agencies
Support the overall smooth operation of the school office and administrative systems
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will:
Have previous HR experience preferably in education or a school setting
Be organised professional and detail-oriented
Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Be confident using HR and school management systems
Be proactive reliable and adaptable
Be knowledgeable about employment law and HR best practices
Be committed to safeguarding and promoting staff and pupil wellbeing
