Job Summary

We are seeking a professional organised and proactive HR Officer to join a busy school in Reading starting ASAP. This is a key role supporting the leadership team with all HR and staffing matters ensuring smooth operations and compliance with employment legislation.

The school has a strong inclusive ethos and values its staff. The HR Officer will manage HR processes support recruitment maintain employee records and provide guidance on HR policies playing a vital role in the schools operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage recruitment processes including advertising shortlisting and arranging interviews

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date staff records

  • Provide support and advice to staff and leadership on HR policies and procedures

  • Assist with staff induction contracts and payroll processes

  • Support performance management processes and staff development tracking

  • Maintain HR databases and filing systems

  • Ensure compliance with employment law safeguarding and GDPR policies

  • Assist with staff absence management and record-keeping

  • Coordinate HR communications between staff leadership and external agencies

  • Support the overall smooth operation of the school office and administrative systems

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

  • Have previous HR experience preferably in education or a school setting

  • Be organised professional and detail-oriented

  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Be confident using HR and school management systems

  • Be proactive reliable and adaptable

  • Be knowledgeable about employment law and HR best practices

  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting staff and pupil wellbeing
