Job Summary
Kendrick Recruitment is seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Sous Chef to join a high-volume large-scale catering operation in Cape Town. This hands-on leadership role is ideal for a chef who thrives in a fast-paced environment manages kitchen teams efficiently and ensures the consistent delivery of high-quality food.
Key Requirements
Proven experience as a Senior Sous Chef in a large-scale catering hotel or lodge environment
Strong understanding of high-volume food preparation and service standards
Excellent leadership coaching and team management skills
Ability to plan coordinate and oversee multiple kitchen operations simultaneously
Knowledge of food safety hygiene and health and safety legislation
Creative approach to menu execution and food presentation
Calm organised and effective under pressure
Strong administrative and organisational skills
Flexibility to work extended hours weekends and public holidays as required
Key Responsibilities
Assist the Executive Chef in the daily management and operation of the kitchen
Oversee and coordinate food preparation ensuring consistency and quality across all dishes
Supervise train and mentor kitchen staff promoting a positive and productive working environment
Ensure adherence to all health hygiene and safety standards within the kitchen
Support menu planning recipe development and daily prep lists
Monitor stock levels manage inventory and minimise food wastage
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen and storage areas
Assist in managing kitchen equipment ensuring proper maintenance and functionality
Help manage kitchen rosters and staffing requirements to ensure smooth operations
Liaise with front-of-house and service teams to deliver seamless guest dining experiences
