The Coordinator City Laws plays a critical leadership role driving the delivery of customer-centric outcomes-focused timely and professional regulatory services across the Hume City municipality.
What youll be doing:
- Ensure effective efficient and compliant delivery of team functions including animal management local laws compliance litter control school crossing supervision and parking management.
- To oversee and ensure the team is managed in accordance with and all programs and services delivered adhere to relevant Acts Regulations and Council policies and procedures
- Ensure staff and resources are effectively rostered and utilized to meet service requirements including after-hours emergency response
- Provide field officers with direction and support to guide the performance of their duties.
- Encourage an environment where innovation continuous improvement and achievement are emphasized and rewarded
- Working with the Manager maximize efficiency and effectiveness of the performance of the team by developing team and individual level performance statistics refining procedures and structures to provide productivity improvements developing and pursuing strategies aimed at making the best use of contemporary technology and participating in cross Council and functional activities as required.
- In conjunction with the Manager lead the team to actively engage and consult with its community and facilitate community input to the decision-making process by monitoring customer requirements and the quality of the departments services to ensure responsiveness accessibility and accountability of all services
- Draft key strategic messages and articles relating to organizational imperatives on behalf of the Manager and Executive Manager to be provided internally and to the community and customers
- Regularly review and monitor the effectiveness of out-sourced contracted services including school crossing supervision shelter services and parking management
- Develop and maintain positive and beneficial relationships with relevant networks and stakeholder including those in local state and federal government and other external organizations and bodies.
The skills and experience youll bring to the role:
- Demonstrated experience in a regulatory compliance and enforcement field ideally within a local government service delivery environment.
- Demonstrated experience in the management and reporting against service delivery quality budget and regulatory requirements.
- Strong supervisory and team leadership skills;
- Ability to exercise a high level of discretion diplomacy and confidentiality in dealings with staff or members of the public.
- Understanding of the principles of quality and continuous improvement and the ability to identify and recommend and lead local service and team improvement opportunities.
Required Certifications & Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate regulatory compliance or enforcement field or extensive and diverse experience related to the position description in either the public or private sector.
- Current drivers licence.
