Position Summary
Pittsburg Community Schools USD 250 is seeking a qualified Certified High School Theater Technology Teacher and Audio Tech Director to support students staff and school operations in alignment with District policies procedures and Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) requirements. This position provides instruction in technical theater coursework including Stagecraft and may include Theater Design Lighting and Sound. The teacher delivers hands-on project-based learning experiences that develop students technical creative and collaborative skills while supporting school theatrical productions and events.
In the Audio Tech Director role the position is responsible for the setup operation and maintenance of audio technology for Pittsburg High School events presentations rehearsals and productions. This role supports instructional programming as well as extracurricular and school-wide activities by ensuring high-quality sound and technical support.
QUALIFICATIONS
Educational Requirements
- Valid Kansas Teaching License with appropriate Fine Arts endorsement or eligibility for licensure through the Kansas State Department of Education
- Technical Theatre experience in one or more areas such as stagecraft lighting sound or design
Preferred:
- Degree in Theatre Education
- Experience with set design and construction
- Experience with theatrical lighting and sound systems
- Commercial Drivers License (CDL)

Specific Responsibilities:
- Teach high school technical theater courses including Stagecraft and as assigned Theater Design Lighting & Sound
- Develop and implement a curriculum aligned with Kansas College and Career Ready Standards and applicable CTE frameworks
- Provide instruction in safe and proper use of tools equipment and theatrical technology
- Supervise and mentor student technical crews for school productions including set construction lighting sound and backstage operations
- Maintain theater spaces scene shop and equipment in a safe organized and instructional-ready condition
- Work collaboratively with staff students and the school community
- Maintain professionalism and follow District and KSDE expectations
- Perform other duties as assigned related to the position

- Assist with activities of student organizations.
- Attend and assist when necessary with school events such as musical programs athletics student recognition ceremonies graduation and open house.
- Obtain advance approval of the Principal for all activities and expenditures.
- Other duties as assigned by Principal or other Administrative Staff
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions
- Level 3 Medium Work
- Exerting 20 - 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10-25 pounds of force frequently and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly
- This work requires the following physical activities: climbing bending stooping kneeling twisting reaching walking lifting finger dexterity grasping repetitive motions.
- The work is performed indoors and outdoors year-round
- Extended periods of sitting and/or standing.
- Must be able to adapt to a fast-paced multi-faceted work environment.
- Must work in noisy and crowded environments.
