FS Ops

Subject to formal establishment amendment a vacancy will arise for a Flight Sergeant (Any Profession) to serve as FS Ops at Intelligence Reserves Wing HQ RAF Waddington on Full Time Reserve Service (Limited Commitment) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS) with an initial proposed start date of 27 July 2026 (or earlier/later subject to candidate status).

Job Description

• The Intelligence Reserve Wing (IRW) HQ Operations Team organise and deliver the mobilisation squadron tasking and Annual Continuous Training (ACT) opportunities for 300 RAF Intelligence Reserves across 10 RAF Reserve Squadrons in support of regular RAF units both in the UK and overseas and ensure Intelligence reserves achieve their requisite ACT requirements to be eligible for their reserve bounty. This is achieved by engagement with RAF units to ensure awareness of the support available via the IRW engagement with RAF Intelligence Reserve Squadron personnel to understand capabilities capacities and availabilities and also engagement with RAF Reserve Ops to ensure all reserve mobilisations adhere to RAF policies.

Responsible for:

• Identifying and creating opportunities for mobilisations through liaison with Profession desks and Units across Defence
• Advertising opportunities and identifying appropriately qualified and suitable individuals to fulfil mobilisations by invoking the intelligent selection process
• Managing and creation of application for funding via Reserves Capability
• Organisation of Pre Deployment Training
• Liaising with Regular unit HR and Reserve Sqns to ensure all elements of mobilisation are addressed
• Liaising with individuals and units during mobilisation
• Tracking mobilisation process in entirety from initial unit enquiry through to demobilisation of Intelligence Reserve
• Identifying and liaising with units across Defence to understand ACT / Reserve Service Days (RSD) opportunities including Exercise & FGEN opportunities via A1 Ops.
• Advertising to and identifying of appropriate individuals to fulfil ACT opportunities.
• Management of ACT/RSD period for the individual and unit.
• Supporting the loading of Intelligence reserves onto Phase 3 Training courses including liaison with training schools and advertising opportunities. Assisting PTVR personnel in applications.
• Understanding the PTVR Intelligence Career Path and providing opportunities to support this.
• Deputising for SO3 Ops & Trg in their absence as required/directed
• Oversight of SNCO assurance working process as required/directed

The role is primarily office based but will be required to undertake visits to a wide range of regular and reserve units across the UK as well as weekend duties to support IRW working schedules. This will be within the scope of the FTRS (LC) contract.
