The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for managing the end-to-end volunteer experience ensuring volunteers are well supported engaged and aligned with programme objectives. This role plays a key part in coordinating logistics communication and on-the-ground support to ensure smooth programme delivery over the contract period.
Key Responsibilities
- Volunteer Coordination & Support
- Act as the primary point of contact for volunteers before during and after placement
- Coordinate volunteer arrivals orientations and inductions
- Ensure volunteers are briefed on expectations schedules policies and procedures
- Provide ongoing support guidance and issue resolution throughout placements
- Programme & Operations Support
- Liaise with programme staff to align volunteer activities with operational needs
- Maintain accurate volunteer schedules attendance records and reporting
- Support day-to-day programme logistics where required
- Communication & Engagement
- Maintain clear professional and timely communication with volunteers
- Foster a positive and inclusive volunteer environment
- Handle feedback concerns and conflict resolution sensitively and professionally
- Administration & Compliance
- Maintain volunteer records and documentation
- Ensure compliance with relevant policies safeguarding standards and health & safety requirements
- Assist with reporting and handover at the end of the contract period
Requirements
Essential
- Previous experience coordinating volunteers participants or people-focused programmes
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- High level of professionalism empathy and cultural awareness
Desirable
- Experience in NGO conservation education or community-based programmes
- Familiarity with international volunteers or cross-cultural environments
- Administrative or programme coordination experience
