Essential Function and Responsibility:

The AV Technician and Service Desk Specialist role is focused primarily on AV and meeting room support. Secondarily the role provides basic computer network and technical troubleshooting. This role utilizes an escalation path to senior team members within the Technology Department Operations Team (referred to as TDOT) when no solution is presently available. This position supports meeting room setups scheduled in advance that use various laptop tablet television and audio-visual equipment by working as a member of the Service Desk team and other teams within the Information Technology department. This position will also be responsible for basic troubleshooting of network issues in addition to basic computer setup and support.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provide root cause analysis for issues that go beyond general support of meeting or computer related issues.
  2. Install maintain and troubleshoot audio-visual equipment (speakers sound mixers amplifiers microphones televisions projectors etc.)
  3. Provide hookup and troubleshoot computers when requested for meetings. Computers will run both Windows and Mac Operating Systems.
  4. Provide and troubleshoot equipment for Zoom Room setups as requested.
  5. Attend Meetings initially to ensure no equipment issues arise.
  6. Attend all-staff meetings and board meetings as requested (in advance) for the duration of the meeting to be on hand if assistance is needed.
  7. Work to enhance the TDOT team - assist with setting standards for meetings training staff on how to set up meetings reviewing projects from Senior TDOT team members
  8. Assist with planning and provide training for Quarterly In-House Training for Meeting Spaces.
  9. Responsible for troubleshooting of equipment that other TDOT members are unable to resolve.
  10. Work with external contractors for support within meeting spaces as needed.
  11. May serve in a lead support role for Jr. TDOT team members for major events as needed.
  12. Assist with other open projects assigned by the Sr. TDOT team members.
  13. Support and troubleshoot a wide variety of computer related issues (Windows and Mac operating systems) and software (Microsoft Office G Suite for Nonprofits Active Directory etc.)

Qualifications

  1. Bachelors Degree and/or two to four (2-4) years audio-visual set-up troubleshooting maintenance install/de-install experience.

  2. Operational knowledge of Audio Systems including live mixing and sound support.

  3. Operational knowledge of Video Systems including projectors monitors and video signal distribution.

  4. Operational knowledge of phone systems and troubleshooting for conference calls.

  5. Operational knowledge of basic network support.

  6. Operational knowledge of computers including Microsoft Office Google apps and various video meeting platforms (Zoom Google Meet Microsoft Teams).

  7. Troubleshooting experience on both Windows and Mac operating systems.

  8. Ability to operate audio-video control systems such as; Midas AMX or Creston.

  9. Ability to conduct yourself professionally in a meeting environment.

  10. Strong Customer Service Background

  11. Ability to interpret space drawings.

  12. Must be able to move/lift computer equipment electronic equipment and furniture on wheels as needed.

  13. Must be able to use ladders operate personnel scissors and mast lifts when trained.

  14. Strong communication and collaboration skills working as a team with other departments.

Supervision Received:

Receives general supervision by the Helpdesk Supervisor

Supervision Exercised:

The position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Work Hours and Shift:

Hours are typically Monday - Friday 8am-4pm with occasional before after or weekend hours required. Usually scheduled in advance.

Pay Range: $27.50 - $29.00 per hour
