POSITION TITLE: International Student Advisor


CLASSIFICATION/
RATE OF PAY: Classification VIII per Schedule A of the collective agreement

DEPARTMENT: International Student Centre


The University of Windsor is situated on the traditional territory of the Three Fires Confederacy of
First Nations: the Ojibwa the Odawa and the Potawatomie. We respect the longstanding relationships with First Nations people in this place in the 100-mile Windsor-Essex peninsula and the straits les détroits of Detroit.


PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The International Student Advisor provides immigration advising services to international students attending the University of Windsor. The incumbent will advise international students and the university community about Canadas immigration policy and work closely with students to resolve issues pertaining to student visas study permits off-campus employment regulations and other immigration issues.


ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will have:
Bachelors degree in Psychology Education Cultural Studies or a related field as determined by the department
Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants (RCIC) designation through Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC)
3 years experience in providing advice related to Canadian immigration or equivalent as determined by the department
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of issues affecting International students.
Experience working in a multicultural environment
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Demonstrated knowledge of established principles and practices associated with post-secondary experiences and students in transition
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Strong presentation and facilitation skills with experience conducting information sessions or workshops to small and large groups
Proven multi-tasking and time management skills including the ability to coordinate multiple projects

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Fluency in Mandarin or Arabic language
