This Supervisory Medical Care Transpiration Technician - Supervisory Paramedic position is assigned to the Department of Veteran Affairs Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Veterans Transportation Services (VTS) Ambulance Service in various VA Medical Center (VAMC) locations with an emergency room acute care or urgent care clinic or other similar departments performing basic and advanced life support procedures.
The Supervisory Medical Care Transportation Technician performs technical duties as a Paramedic (Basic and Advanced Life Support Services). In addition to performing all the duties and responsibilities of a Paramedic the person in this position will as a regular and recurring part of their assignment exercise supervisory authorities and responsibilities over the Ambulance Services Program (ASP).
The major duties include but are not limited to:
English Language Proficiency Requirement: In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) No person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English. You must be proficient in basic written and spoken English in order to perform the duties of this position. AND
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR (SCREEN-OUT) - FOUR Selective Placement Factors (SPF) have been identified for this position. Selective Placement Factors (SPF) are a prerequisite to appointment and represent minimum requirements for the position. Applicants who do not meet the SPF are ineligible for further consideration.
There is no educational substitution at this grade level.
Receiving Service Credit for Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual based on prior work experience or military service experience. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. Such credit must be requested and approved prior to the appointment date and is not guaranteed.
