Job Summary

Position: Data Center Technian OR Critical Environments Operator

Location: Fort Worth TX

Duration: 12 Months

Under the direction of the Sr Facility Manager this role works as a team member in an Operations & Maintenance organization that provides a variety of O&M services within a 24/7/365 environment. Provides duties with constant awareness of the need to preserve the reliability of the critical load. Also provides operational support for building systems of other facilities as assigned. Responsible for carrying out maintenance and operations by performing the following duties personally or as a team member in a Data Center Operations & Maintenance environment.

Role Summary

The Data Center Operations Technician is responsible for supporting the operations maintenance and client service functions of the facility. This role combines hands-on technical support across electrical mechanical and IT infrastructure ensuring reliable operations timely issue resolution and high levels of customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Maintenance

  • Support daily operations and maintenance of data center infrastructure and assigned facility spaces under the direction of the Senior Facility Manager
  • Follow and execute SOPs MOPs EOPs and MMRs for all maintenance and operational activities
  • Utilize the CMMS system to track work orders preventive maintenance labor hours and reactive tickets
  • Respond to building system alarms prioritizing protection of critical load minimizing system impact and supporting root cause analysis

Technical Support (Facilities & IT)

  • Act as Smart Hands and Feet for client requests including basic troubleshooting and support
  • Perform Level 1 support on Windows servers including reboots hardware swaps and initial diagnostics
  • Install and configure customer infrastructure including cabinets cages cross-connects and cabling
  • Troubleshoot and test fiber and copper cabling ensuring end-to-end circuit integrity
  • Build and maintain circuits in network management databases and perform routine audits

Vendor & Contractor Coordination

  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors to ensure safe and compliant execution of maintenance and project work
  • Support site access escorting and ensure proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) and safety procedures are followed
  • Assist with equipment evaluations and provide input for contractor scopes of work

Logistics & Inventory Support

  • Assist with inventory management of tools cabling and materials
  • Support supply tracking and ensure availability of required equipment for operations

Safety & Compliance

  • Adhere to all company client and regulatory policies including EHS standards
  • Ensure all work meets quality and safety requirements including proper use of LOTO and safe work practices
  • Participate in on-the-job training (OJT) and ongoing technical development

Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain awareness of building operational rules and procedures
  • Support critical switching and safe work environment setup for maintenance activities
  • Be available for 24/7/365 on-call and emergency response support

Qualifications:

  • 3 5 years of experience in data center operations facility maintenance or building engineering roles
  • Experience with:
    • CMMS systems and work order management
    • Vendor and subcontractor coordination
    • KPI tracking and reporting
    • Capacity planning
  • Ability to use hand tools diagnostic equipment and maintenance best practices
  • Ability to troubleshoot systems via equipment interfaces and stabilize operations until OEM support arrives
  • customer focused

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with fiber testing (reflectance dB loss circuit testing)
  • Knowledge of Visio AutoCAD or ITIL frameworks

Education & Experience

  • Associate degree or technical training in Electrical Mechanical or HVAC/R disciplines or equivalent hands-on experience
