Job Summary
Were seeking a creative and passionate Social Media Marketing Intern to help us share our mission showcase our adoptable dogs and engage our growing community of volunteers fosters and dog lovers. This is unpaid internship is a hands-on opportunity to build real-world digital marketing skills while directly contributing to life-saving work. If you love dogs storytelling and social media this role will let you make a tangible impact while building your portfolio.
What Youll Do
Create engaging heartwarming social media content across Instagram Facebook TikTok and YouTube that showcases our adoptable dogs programs and community events
Capture and edit photos and videos of our rescue dogs events and foster families to build emotional connections with our audience
Schedule and publish posts using social media management tools
Design eye-catching graphics for adoption promotions event announcements and fundraising campaigns using Canva Adobe Photoshop or similar tools
Monitor engagement respond to comments and messages and foster relationships with our online community
Track social media analytics to measure campaign performance and identify growth opportunities
Support fundraising campaigns and adoption drives through creative storytelling and targeted content
Assist with content for our website email newsletters and promotional materials
Collaborate with our team to brainstorm fresh ideas that amplify our brand and mission
Help document volunteer experiences success stories and behind-the-scenes moments
What Were Looking For
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Marketing Filmmaking Documentary Public Relations Communications Graphic Design Nonprofit Management or related field (or equivalent experience)
Genuine love for dogs and passion for animal welfare
Strong storytelling skills with the ability to create compelling mission-driven content
Familiarity with Instagram Facebook TikTok and YouTube
Basic graphic design skills (Canva Adobe Creative Suite or willingness to learn)
Experience with photography and/or video editing (even on your phone!) is a plus
Organized detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects
Creative self-starter who can work independently and collaboratively
Understanding of social media trends hashtags and community engagement strategies
Bonus: Experience with social media analytics tools (Meta Business Suite Google Analytics) or scheduling platforms (Hootsuite Buffer Later)
Time Commitment
1015 hours per week (flexible schedule)
Duration: Minimum 3-month commitment preferred
Remote with occasional in-person events/photo opportunities in Southern California (optional but encouraged!)
