Job Description:

Hitachi Railis looking for an enthusiastic self-motivatedFleet Manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based inOakland CA.

Accountabilities

Employees in this job perform a variety of activities designed to oversee the service repair and maintain pieces of Hitachi owned on-track rail equipment. The work is performed through the application of a body of knowledge and specific certifications that denote expertise in heavy equipment maintenance.

This is an advanced level position. The employee may serve as a lead worker overseeing heavy equipment mechanics or contractors performing the most complex assignments. The lead worker provides technical assistance in diagnosis and repair of heavy equipment working closely with lower-level mechanics or contractors.

Duties:

  • Provide oversite of maintenance and repair activities on various pieces of heavy equipment including but not limited to on-track maintenance equipment excavators skidders cranes trailers backhoes and man lifts.

  • Manage the NCR process on various systems that are found on pieces of heavy equipment such as mechanical and computer electronic controls air brake systems high voltage generators and pneumatic systems.

  • Audit routine maintenance checks and adjustments on such things as fluid levels hoses belts brakes tires; changes filters and oil and lubricates vehicles and motor driven equipment.

  • Track and maintain service logs and records of maintenance on vehicles and motorized equipment.

  • Prepare and maintain work orders.

  • Primary point of contact between the customer and the contractor.

  • Subcontractor management

  • Other related work as assigned.

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • 5-10 years of relevant experience in vehicle service and maintenance preferably in the rail industry

  • Knowledge of the standard practices materials tools and equipment used in the repair and maintenance of motor vehicles and engines.

  • Knowledge of safety issues in the use of tools equipment and supplies used in repair of motorized vehicles and equipment.

  • Knowledge of body and frame construction.

  • Skill in the use of a variety of hand tools.

  • Skill in the use of gas and electric welding equipment.

  • Skill in the use of mechanized tools jacks and hoists.

  • Skill in the use of a variety of diagnostic testing and tuning equipment.

  • Ability to diagnose mechanical electrical and hydraulic malfunctions.

  • Ability to read manuals and schematics.

  • Ability to rebuild engines and major driveline components.

  • Ability to communicate with other mechanics about repair work needed.

  • High School Diploma

The salary range for this position is $112100 to $168200 per year. Final pay is determined by the candidates experience skillset and ability level internal equity and location.
