Job Summary
Job Description:
The role of aSenior Manager Raw Material Handling System (RMHS) & Direct Reduced Iron (DRI)involvesstrategic oversight of raw material logistics and the end-to-end operation and maintenance of the DRI plant within an integrated steel plant environment. This leadership position ensures high operational reliability safety cost efficiency and compliance with environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operations & Maintenance:Oversee all aspects of the RMHS and DRI plant operations including material flow crushing screening conveying systems and mechanical equipment maintenance.
- Strategic Planning:Develop and implement an end-to-end supply chain strategy that ensures optimal inventory levels product availability and cost efficiency across the business.
- Project Management:Lead project execution for new or upgraded RMHS and DRI systems including integration and commissioning to meet production targets and deadlines.
- Inventory and Logistics:Manage the inbound and outbound flow of raw materials (iron ore coal fluxes) and finished goods collaborating with procurement and logistics teams to coordinate deliveries and manage inventory.
- Safety & Compliance:Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols conduct regular inspections and maintain compliance with all relevant environmental regulations (e.g. dust control) and industry standards (ISO OHSAS).
- Team Leadership:Lead mentor and motivate a team of managers engineers and operators managing performance allocating manpower and fostering a productive work environment.
- Cost Control & Efficiency:Identify cost-saving opportunities manage departmental budgets negotiate with vendors and transporters and drive process improvement initiatives.
- Reporting & Analysis:Maintain accurate operational records and prepare reports for senior management on performance metrics (KPIs) challenges and improvement initiatives.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Education:A Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering Metallurgy or a related field is typically required.
- Experience:Significant work experience (typically 10-15 years) in RMHS sponge iron (DRI) or integrated steel plant operations and maintenance often in a management or leadership role.
- Technical Skills:Deep understanding of RMHS equipment (conveyors stackers reclaimers crushers) DRI kiln/cooler operations mechanical maintenance and process control.
- Soft Skills:Strong leadership communication analytical problem-solving and interpersonal skills are crucial for collaborating with various stakeholders and managing a team effectively.
