Job Description:
An industrial products field sales person for a wholesaler isresponsible forgenerating leadsbuilding client relationships andclosing dealsfor complex or high-value products within an assigned territory requiring a blend of technical knowledge and strong interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Prospecting and Lead Generation:Identify and generate new sales opportunities and potential clients through research cold calling and networking.
- Client Engagement & Relationship Management:Meet with existing and potential customers in person to understand their specific needs and build long-term positive business relationships. This involves a significant amount of travel within a territory.
- Product Expertise and Presentation:Possess a deep understanding of the industrial products their technical specifications and applications to effectively present and demonstrate their features and benefits to customers.
- Sales and Negotiation:Present product solutions negotiate prices and contract terms and close sales deals to meet or exceed sales quotas and targets.
- Order and Logistics Coordination:Collaborate with internal teams (e.g. logistics warehouse manufacturing) to ensure smooth order processing timely delivery and post-sales support.
- Market Analysis and Reporting:Stay informed about market trends competitor activities and customer feedback. Provide sales forecasts and reports to management using CRM software and other sales tools.
- Customer Support:Follow up with clients to ensure satisfaction with their purchases and resolve any problems or concerns that may arise.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Proven Sales Experience:A track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets preferably within the industrial product sector.
- Technical Aptitude:Sufficient mechanical or technical knowledge to understand the products and effectively communicate their value to industrial clients.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills:Excellent verbal communication active listening negotiation and persuasion abilities to build rapport and influence decision-makers.
- Self-Motivation & Time Management:The ability to work independently manage time effectively prioritize tasks and stay motivated in a performance-driven environment.
- Problem-Solving Abilities:Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess customer needs and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Tech Savviness:Proficiency in using CRM software (e.g. Salesforce) and other sales and office tools.
- Education:While a high school diploma may suffice for some roles a bachelors degree in business marketing or an industry-related field is often preferred especially for more technical products.
