Job Summary

Manager HK Risk Management

Reporting to the Senior Director Hong Kong Risk Management this role is responsible for overseeing strategic product insurance and market risks across a broad range of business initiatives. The position plays a key role in operationalizing an effective Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework and promoting a strong culture of risk awareness across the Company.

This role provides independent risk oversight and challenges key business decisions as a second line of defense. Able to deliver clear recommendations to senior management and relevant governance committees in alignment with Manulifes ERM framework risk appetite and applicable regulatory requirements.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Review and challenge risks identified in product initiatives reinsurance arrangement and product campaigns ensuring product design and pricing comply with Corporate Pricing Standards regulatory requirements and are consistent with Manulifes risk appetite and limits.

  • Provide independent risk oversight and secondline challenge during the annual New Business (NB) plan and strategic planning processes embedding risk considerations into business decision-making.

  • Assist in annual risk limit setting process and the regular monitoring of quantitative risk measures such as Economic Capital (EC) and Local Solvency metrics.

  • Design and conduct regular crisis simulation exercises to identify material risks and drive appropriate management actions.

  • Monitor and oversee risks associated with the Companys investment portfolios investment strategy assetliability management and derivatives usage ensuring compliance with internal policies standards and regulatory guidelines as well as the effectiveness of risk mitigation actions.

  • Collaborate closely with crossfunctional teams (including but not limited to actuarial investments and controllers) to develop implement and enhance ERM frameworks policies and methodologies.

  • Contribute to the preparation of Risk Reports and Own Risk & Solvency Assessment (ORSA) reports ensuring comprehensive analysis of current and forward-looking risk profile with clear management actions and mitigation strategies.

  • Lead the annual review of risk policies and risk appetite frameworks ensuring ongoing alignment with emerging risk environments and strategic objectives.

  • Monitor evolving risks industry developments and regulatory changes assist in assessing potential impacts on the Company and recommending appropriate responses.

  • Support ad-hoc regulatory submission special projects broader risk management activities such as general training and other risk-awareness.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies/Education:

  • Bachelors degree in Actuarial Science Risk Management or related discipline with professional actuarial qualifications such as FSA FIA or equivalent.

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in the life insurance industry gained within actuarial and/or risk management functions; experience in product pricing and valuation is highly preferred.

  • Solid understanding of enterprise risk management financial risk and ORSA requirements including regulatory and governance expectations.

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to translate complex risk issues into clear actionable insights for senior management.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage effectively across functions and seniority levels.

  • Highly selfmotivated detailoriented and capable of working independently in a fastpaced dynamic environment.
