Madrigals medication Rezdiffra (resmetirom) is a once-daily oral liver-directed THR-β agonist designed to target key underlying causes of MASH. An ongoing Phase 3 outcomes trial is evaluating Rezdiffra for the treatment of compensated MASH cirrhosis (F4c).

Position Summary
TheDirectorMedical Strategy International is a key leadership role within Global Medical Affairs. This role leads the development and execution of International strategic medical plans and provides scientific and medicalexpertiseto support those plans including but not limited to lifecycle management insights generation and advisory board strategy. This position serves as the primary ex-US representative on the Medical Product Team (MPT) and is the subject matter expert to create the indication-specific or product-specific European Medical strategic framework and prioritized Medical Affairs tactics to ensure the success ofresmetiromthroughout the product lifecycle. This individual applies broad technical knowledge of the therapeutic area relevant clinical practiceguidelinesand related scientific data.
This role leads efforts within Global Medical Affairs to support both short- and long-termobjectives with 50% of effort focused on executing functional priorities and 50% focused on providing strategic direction adapting priorities and ensuring alignment with organizationalobjectives.
Key Responsibilities
Medical Affairs Strategy Oversight:
Strategically develop and oversee execution of Medical Affairs plans ensuring alignment with the companys overall business goals including the brand team
Tracking plan execution and ensuring alignmentSupport management of Medical Strategybudgets
Identifyunmet medical needs and generate strategic insights and complete situational analysis and provide to Medical Affairs and cross-functional stakeholders to inform medical strategy as appropriate
Develop and execute advisory board strategy based on strategic imperatives and insights collected
Activelyparticipatein the cross-functional team in the development and management ofresmetirom ensuring compliance strategic alignment andtimelydelivery with the medical strategy
Define key strategies and initiatives to support global asset and company goals
Manage Product Lifecycle:
Contribute to the lifecycle plan ofresmetirom from development through commercialization and post-market activities ensuring alignment with strategic goals and regulatory requirements
Communicate opportunities for product enhancements optimization and updates based on market feedback performance metrics and evolving industry standards
CrossfunctionalCollaboration:
Partners with the VP of Medical Strategy to develop medical strategy and collaborates closelywith local medical leadership
Partners closely with R&D Medical Directors within Scientific Communications Field Medical and Medical Excellence to support the department and organizational objectives
Partners with R&D Market Access regulators Commercial and Brand Team to ensure alignment with the companys overall business goals
Engagement with Key External Stakeholders:
Act as an external interface with stakeholders including clinicians insurers government leaders professional societies and medical-scientific institutions
Ensure engagement with the medical community through scientific advisory boards stakeholder engagements webinars and presentations
Serve as a spokesperson for the company in scientific forums and with healthcare professionals
Medical Expertise and Leadership:
Provide strategic leadership and medicalexpertiseto guide the development and implementation of clinical programs ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and organizational goals
Compliance & Quality:
Comply withcompany SOPs industry standards and applicable regulations
Uphold the highest ethical standards in all internal and external engagements
Investigator Initiated Studies:
Participates in the scientific evaluation of Investigator Initiated Studies (IIS) proposals
Travel Requirement:
Willingness to travel 40% to medical congresses and internal meetings both domestic and international
Profile
This position requires a well-rounded leader who has strong cross functional skills: strategic and tactical commercialization experience in European product launches and expansion. The ability to drive cross-functional collaboration; strong analytical and presentation skills; vendor and alliance management experience; and the ability to execute in an integrated global-regional operating model.Adaptable and proactive in a fast-paced evolving environment
Qualifications
Advanced doctoral scientific/healthcare degree (e.g. PhD MD etc.)
Minimum12 years in the pharmaceutical industry in a position that developed and executed against a medical strategy (such as a Medical Director in a Medical Affairs leadership role)
In-depth knowledge of liver disease; experience in cardiometabolic health or metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH)
Strongtrack recordof written and oral communication skills to develop and present medical strategies to varied audiences and articulate messages succinctly
Understands detailed technical information and conveys complex ideas to a variety of audience types and cultures
Strong organizational skills to tracknumeroustasks for multiple simultaneous projects in a deadline-oriented environment
Strong knowledge of EU healthcare systems regulations and medical affairs compliance standards
Ability to interact and strategize with leadership and stakeholders across the business
Proficiencyin Microsoft Office Suite virtual communication platforms (e.g. Teams Zoom) and CRM systems (e.g. Veeva)
